Jim,
You probably mean Yucatan hammocks.
A couple of weeks ago I ordered 3 hammocks from Merida (over the internet)
They were FedExed to me in 4 days. The URL is...

beautiful hammocks, and cheap.

No, he probably does mean hammocks from Oaxaca. There is a town on the
coast (maybe more than one town) where they make them. When I was at
Puerto Escondido, there were women from that town walking up and down
the beach carrying tightly bundled collections of hammocks on their
heads (one said the bundles weigh around 12 kilos, and they balance
them on there heads the entire day as they wander up and down the
beach. Talk about strong necks!).

Yes,I mean hammocks from Oaxaca. They are different than hammocks from
the Yucatan. The thread used is much thicker in Oaxaca and gives the
hammock the appearance of being larger, stronger, with brighter colours.

The difference between the Yucatecan and Oaxacan hammocks is that the
Oaxacan hammocks are made of nylon. They are stronger and more
durable, and come in a variety of strong, long lasting colors. They last
longer than the Yucateca, but are warmer, and the nylon can be
uncomfortable for some.
The yucateca is made of finer cotton string,,and is by far more
comfortable, and cooler, than the nylon hammock of Oaxaca. The drwabacks
are that they cotton strings break more readily, and they don't fare as
well as nylon when left out in the sun for the season. They are cheaper
than the oaxacan.
When I'm lying in my hammock, its generally comfort that I'm after.I
prefer the Yucateca...;^)> Howard

BTW...buy the biggest, and I mean THE biggest you can find.Don't buy the
first one you look at.Get to recognize the sizes.never buy a hammock
without seeing it fully extended, then be sure that its WIDE,not just
long.My own Yucateca is about fifteen feet long and easily eight feet
wide.
