Riga, Prague, and Paris are known for their beautiful Art Nouveau
and/or Jugendstil architecture. From doing a web search, it seems
that Dresden (those floods were a great tragedy) is also a great city
for this. What other cities are known for this?

Alesund, Norway. Downtown was reconstructed after a major fire about 1904.
Lovely, and a delightful port there also.

Certainly Brussels (for Victor Horta).

Sliding slightly off the topic, for the same period -- or, to be
precise, an earlier period but part of the essential roots of
Jugendstil -- it might be worth seeing if anything much survives from
the Vienna Secession.

And again extending backwards from Jugendstil, the Mackintosh stuff in
Glasgow is worth seeing as part of the precursor movements.

Does Gaudi count as Art Nouveau? If so, Barcelona might be worth a visit
because of Gaudi's very special buildings there.

I was in Alesund this summer. It is a delightful city and has terrific
examples of this type of design. Well worth the visit.

I have read all the posts so far and would like to comment:

Brussels is not emphasized enough.

Regarding Harvey V's remarks about Vienna, there a number of things to
see of this period in Vienna: One should consider not only architecture,
but arts and crafts as beautifully exhibited in the museum of that name
and the works of the Wiener Verstatte.

There are many homes in Vienna, as well as Budapest.

Back to arts and crafts, one cannot overlook Nancy (France).

The Imatran Valtionhotelli in Finland is probably the country's most
impressive example of Jugendstil architecture. It overlooks the Imatra
Rapids in the eastern border town of (you guessed it) Imatra. It was
built in the early 20th century to house visiting dignitaries from
nearby St. Petersburg.

http://jugendstil.aalesund.net/ is probably the best website to describe
Alesund. Probably the most examples of Art Noveau/Jugendstil in one place.
It is a wonderful place to vacation too.

Darmstadt (south of Franfurt/Main) in Germany has many examples of
Jugendstil buildings and houses (and a museum too, I think)

No one has mentioned Gorlitz in eastern Germany.

And don't miss the Bröhan Museum in Berlin.
