Will need a place for a couple of nights. Travelling with 2 young kids, so
ideal place would be near a park and have a separate bedroom within the room
for kids. Price ideally midrange.

Will be travelling between airport and Heuston train station, but recognize
that neighbourhoods near train stations are often not great, so proximity to
Heuston not vital.

Check out http://www.jurys.com/frireland_index.htm

I think they are the latgest hotel chain in Dublin. I just stayed at the
Burlington. A little bit out of the city but some of their others are
closer.

Jury's are a nice chain, with very different hotels in different
locations. I stayed at Jury's Christchurch Inn (opposite Christchurch
Cathedral, near Dublin Castle) a couple of months ago for EUR 80 a night
- in a similar price range is a Jury's Inn down by the Custom House
Quay, but booking well in advance is strongly recommended as they seem
to fill up very quickly, particularly at weekends! Down near the
Lansdowne Road stadium/RDS is the 5-star Jury's Hotel Ballsbridge, where
the tourist office at Dun Laoghaire port found me a room for 100 IEP --
this was the cheapo weekend rate -- when I got off the ship one Saturday
morning last year and they could find no hotels in central Dublin with a
room free other than the Gresham and the Shelbourne each at around 250
IEP a night. Next door is their even more expensive and luxurious
Towers.

Tip: Look at http://www.gulliver.ie/ (registration required) where you
can find details of practically every registered hotel in Ireland, and
make online reservations. I've used it several times, with no problems
at all.

I stayed at the Christchurch one as well, it was a fairly pleasing
experience, nothing much to it of course, not a real hotel as such.
There are nice hotels for the same money but I'm fairly fond of the
Christchurch jury's.

I drank the free with the room instant coffee as I watched folks go to
work past the Cathedral once, it was one of those moments when I was
glad to be Irish. A funny old feeling.
