In Florence you may try with Museo Marino Marini, near Via della Vigna
Nuova. Or have a look at Museo Pecci in Prato - but be sure to ask for
info about current exhibitions before actually heading to Prato. In a
few years a big gallery will be opened in a converted factory
(meccanotessile), but this is still in a planning stage.
Actually, there is not so much contemporary art work in Florence. The
city is more oriented to ancient art and, recently, to studies on the
maintenance and restoration of ancient art. And, if you think that no
more than one third of art works belonging to Uffizi is actually on
exhibition as there is no space (for every picture you see they have two
more in their vaults), you understand how little place there would be
for contemporary artists.
