I would appreciate information about where to look in Paris and vicinity
for affordable impressionist paintings done by currently painting
artists.

Hello!

In one of the travel guides I have read lately I remember reading that the
Centre National d'Art et de Culture Georges-Pompidou has art so modern
that the paint has not dried on it yet.

It also said that around the museum there are many artists displaying
(selling) their works. I am unsure whether
the French still paint impressionist, but certainly it sounds like an
appropriate place to begin a search. Good luck!

You might try the Quartier Latin. I recall that the Rue des
Saints-Peres and the surrounding streets had lots of nice work. This
area is just behind St. Germain des Pres, toward the Seine. Real
close to the Musee d'Orsay--whose works are, of course, unaffordable
at present!

Bonne chance!
Debra
