There are plenty of major brand hotels downtown, but none are right at the
pier. You will end up paying $20+ to get from the airport to downtown and
then again to get to the pier.

There are numerous hotels downtown, but none at the pier. However the
pier is only about 1/4 to 1/2 mile from the hotels.

Downtown hotels include Hyatt, Holiday Inn, Radisson, Marriott (closet
to the pier), Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott,
Wyndam.

Cab fare from airport to hotel downtown should be about $20 and I
suspect most of the hotels will have complimentary shuttles to the
pier. Cab far should be no more than a few dollars.

We will be checking into the Hyatt Regency Downtown on Friday for a
Sunday April 6th cruise on the Horizon. Got it via priceline for two
nights at $40 per night.

There are many hotels with airport transportation that are located near the
airport. I have checked this out, but I would bet that at least some of them
would take you to the pier from the hotel on their bus. Perhaps some other
poster has knowledge of this? I would like to know, too, as we are going on
the Sensation at the end of April.

You might want to try Priceline.

Here's an example of the Downtown Tampa Hyatt received for $37/nite:
