Travel Channel has a show on this evening on the Kapitan Khlebnikov going to
Antarctica. Not sure if it's a first time showing or not.

Should most likely be repeated.

They show the ship doing "ice cutting".

Thanks. It is on now. And hip--hip--hooray!!! Comcast finally added the
Travel Channel here recently so I can now watch all tose shows people
have mentioned on the Travel Channel.

If you are talking about the show, "Ends of the Earth" then that show is
from September 11, 2004. Now back to the football game. ;-)

I wish Comcast would give us the Travel Channel here in South Jersey.
Since you now have it, maybe there is some hope for us yet.

Have you checked your cable lineup lately? This was recent. The only
reason I noticed was because a lady in the building came to our Condo
Board of Directors meeting and complained she had not been able to pray
for two weeks. Come agian!!! Turns out Comcast changed the lineup and
the Interfaith channel had been moved a channel which was overidden by
our Condo's cable TV channel. The only way she could pray was if the
condo channel was moved. So I looked at the new lineup in the paper and
there was the Travel Channel listed. (the poor dear can pray again I
think since the condo channel has now been moved :)

Just checked the lineup on line and we still don't have the Travel
Channel.

Sue,

I have Comcast Digital and while I can look at Channel 6's radar 24/7, and I
have ACN Jewelry TV, I don't have The Travel Channel.

Do what I did Sue. Dropped Comcast and got Directv. Also dropped comcast as
my ISP since they charged me $57.95 a month after I dropped their cable.
While there is a difference from cable to DSL it is minimal and stil way
better then dial - up.

If you don't have the Travel Channel on with digital, I guess I will
get the Travel Channel when hell freezes over(grin).

A lot of people in our new community have gone with sattelite and/or
DSL to get away from Comcast. Kevin has thought about it, but isn't
sure he wants to make the switch.

How much of a difference is there between Comcast Cable and DDS?

If we got it here I would not give up hope. I was not expecting it, and
it is on an analog channel here, channel 39.

Here in South Jersey it seems that every channel they add is another
sports channel, which I have no interest in. I hope that we will be as
lucky as you and get the Travel Channel some day, but I am not holding
my breath.

Sue,
When you ask about the difference are you referring to the price, picture,
or channel selection?

No problem with wind or snow. About 3 times since we had it (about 18
months) during HEAVY rains it might go out for 10 minutes.

It is slower than cable but after having Comcast for an extended amount of
time I don't really notice a dropoff.

Since DSL is only $29.95 and Comcast is $42.95 I like saving any money I can
and keeping every dime out of Comcast' pockets I can.

Also have an additional premium channel now with Directv and still pay about
$15.00 less a month then I used to with Comcast cable.

The speed on DSL. Sorry I wasn't clear, just too much to deal with
right now.

Kevin said that there used to be a lot of weather related problems,
but the guys where he works say that has improved a lot.

Some of us are trapped by our locations, Sue. While I live up high, my
apartment faces north and does not have line of sight to the satellite, thus
no Direct TV or Dish even if it wouldn't be a violation of my lease.

One thing you have to consider is that you have to have a clear view to
the south.

yes this is true. If you can't access the satellite you're out of luck. I've
only heard of one person who had a problem with this but it does exist.

I watched the reply at 1am last night. It was really cool, no pun intended.
$25,000 doesn't seem to be too steep a price to pay to say you were one of
the few people in the world to have done some of the things and seen some of
the places they went to.
Some of those people were either very brave or plain crazy. There's no way I
would have jumped into that water at 31 degrees. brrrrrrrrr.

Those cruisers sure some amazing things.

Surfer,
With all the channels available I'm surprised you can't find something you
like.
Try A & E, USA, or Lifetime channels when football takes over the regular
channels.

Bill, I have DSL and it is much faster than cable...A friend of mine who is
on cable here and I were on the phone, both looking at different cruises
that we were intersted in and her cable was much slower down loading than my
DSL. It may have to do as to how close you are to the central office..

Would if we could, but we do not have cable, better half does not want
it,we use our vcr,or dvd, when nothing is on,just hate it when they cut
in on my favorite shows,or run over so you can not get a set time to
watch,or tape.
