Secretary of Transportation Norman Y. Mineta announced that the FAA will
allow a limited reopening of US airspace so that diverted flights from
yesterday may continue to their destinations. Only passengers on the
original flights will be allowed to reboard and only after airports and
airlines have implemented strict screening measures. Airlines will also be
allowed to reposition empty aircraft.

Other than those flights, the FAA is extending the ground stop order while
additional security measures are completed. "Safety is always of paramount
importance, and in these extraordinary times we intend to be vigilant,"
Mineta said. "We remain committed to resuming commercial flights as soon as
possible."

A variety of increased security measures will be instituted at the airports
once they reopen. These measures include:
**A thorough search and security check of all airplanes and airports
before passengers are allowed to enter and board aircraft.
**Discontinue curbside check-in at airports. Passengers should go to the
ticket counter to check in.
**Off Airport check in will be discontinued.
**Boarding areas are reserved for passengers only.
**Vehicles near airport terminals will be monitored more closely.

Any news of flights originating in other countries to the US? I'm really
asking about those on SS Norway who want tocut short their trips and plan to
fly back as soon as we arrive in Glasgow tomorrow.

Any info would help, sent to my e-mail address, here on AOL or at my regular
e-mail address of kar...@nac.net

TIA

As I understand it, American and to at least some extent, Canadian airports are
closed.

There is some possibility that they will start up again tomorrow, but it will
be packed. I'd stay on the boat, since you will probably wait at the airport
instead.
