GRAND TURK CRUISE CENTER OFFERS A VARIETY OF SHOPPING OPPORTUNITIES TO
CARIBBEAN CRUISE SHIP PASSENGERS

GRAND TURK, B.W.I. (April 8, 2008) – Grand Turk Cruise Center,
one of the Caribbean’s newest cruise destinations, has announced an
increase in both the number of ship calls as well as the opening of
additional retail stores in 2008.

In addition to vendors selling local crafts and souvenirs, the
facility also features such recognizable names as Margaritaville,
Little Switzerland, Ron Jon Surf Shop, Bruno Fine Art, Goodmark
Jewelers and the cruise center’s anchor retail tenant, duty-free
giant, Dufry.

Officials at the Grand Turk Cruise Center expect more than 200
cruise ship calls accounting for 400,000 passengers in 2008, up from
180 calls and 380,000 passengers last year.

Located on 13 acres of pristine beachfront property on Grand
Turk, in the Turks & Caicos Islands, the Grand Turk Cruise Center
boasts more than 40 retail shops encompassing 40,000 square feet of
retail space featuring many world-renowned brand names in watches,
jewelry, and clothing.

Francisco Morales of A&G Grand Turk Ltd, which operates the
Ron Jon Surf Shop and Piranha Joe’s at the Grand Turk Cruise Center,
commented, “We are expecting a record-breaking year at our outlets
within Grand Turk Cruise Center and are delighted that we will be able
to offer visitors an even greater diversity of retail items.”

Watch brands such as Rolex, Breitling and Movado, and jewelry
by designers such as David Yurman, Robert Coin and Cabana are featured
in selected stores. Clothing by Tommy Bahama, Quicksilver and Piranha
Joe’s along with fine art by names such as Frank Meisler, David
Gerstein, Abecassis, Miro, Picasso and others can also be found in the

We've been there 3-4 times now and I haven't seen a bargain yet. Liquor
prices are almost as high as home in PA. Not worth carrying the extra
weight.

Now given that, we like the port very much for all other activities. Just
don't expect any great bargains.

We will be there next week. What other activities would you
recommend, bearing in mind that we are older folks.

Thanks,

There is a hop-on-hop-off bus that goes around the island. Some one in
our group took it and enjoyed it a lot. At the pier is a Margaritaville,
a pool and a beach. There is also a Margaritaville shop which I spent
too much money in.lol

I saw a guy on tv in his 80's and he was water skiing barefoot! I know
seniors in their 90's who still go to market and cook a meal for a
family of 12 every day. The words "senior", and "older people" is being
redefined by such people. Without listing a
litany of limitations something needs to be included to indicate degree
of physical limitations rather than simply stating "we're seniors" or
"we're older people". Older no longer means limited or disabled. I'm
just seeking more clarity.

BRIAN:
You are so right, older people are no longer as they used to say "put out
to pasture. We are both 80 and we still do our own shopping
driving, tending the garden, and mowing our lawns with a push mower,
And of course cruising a couple times a year.

Agreed. But in our case, Mom has definitely slowed. She does very
well for mid-70s and she's healthy and still works. But walking is
limited and she wouldn't enjoy many (any) physically demanding
activities. She has a friend who is mid-80s and still out playing
tennis in hot AZ heat almost daily. It's relative but on average, I'm
guessing a fairly small percentage of the scuba-snorkelling crowd
finishes their posts with "and we're seniors".

I think we'll enjoy the shops and the hop-on-and-off bus. Even if I
don't find anything I want to haul back home, I like looking at the
stuff in the stores.

Still mowing with a push mower? Whew. I hope it's not a big yard. I
gave up on the push mower 20 years ago. But I'm basically a lazy
butt. :-) I do mow my big corner yard myself though.

Yes still mowing with a push mower, but am considering an electric
mower,we have almost 3/4 acres to mow. We are still going strong, but
want a little more time to just sit and enjoy our yard and garden.

Consider adopting Alaskan Huskies, Malamutes, or Bernese (Swiss)
Mountain Dogs. All make good pets and are willing to work as draft
animals. There are still some farm supply shops where you can get the
equivalent of a push mower. It's bigger and is pulled. Push mowers are
considered green, now. Add to that adopting two draft doggies from a
rescue shelter and you'll be way ahead of the neighbors. You'll be a
trend setter. It would be a good trend which also helps homeless draft
dogs.

Ok maybe for 3/4 acres the dogs and mowing contraption may be much.
Desperate Housewives can't be the only place where shirtless athletic
teen age boys will mow the lawn. Obtain one of these, have him use the
"green" mower. You can sit on the porch enjoying the lemonade and the
view. (It's not a crime to just look.) ;-)
