You're gonna need to soak that necklace in bleach for a while......also, watch
out for cheap jewelery (especially on the beaches of Mexico), the cheap silver
rings will make a nice green mark around the finger.

Scabies is caused by a mite called Sarcoptes scabiei. When the mite
attacks dogs the condition is called mange, when it attacks people it is
called Scabies. Sarcoptes thrives on flesh, not on sea shells or jewelry.

More than likely, she got them from the vendor him/herself, not the jewelry.
Probably, Pam. The whole idea gives me the heebie-geebies. I used to
consult in a nursing home where a least two residents had them at any given
time. I just know that I generally couldn't wait to get home to jump in the
shower. Never really looked in depth at the cause.
I'm getting itchy just thinking about it.

Someone brought an English bulldog and her four newborn puppies to the
animal shelter. They had mange. The mother dog was treated at the
shelter but someone had to take the puppies home to be treated (our
shelter closes at 5:00). Four employees at the shelter each took a
puppy home with them, they all decided to keep the puppies. <g>
Becca <-----thinks puppies are toooooo cute...
Pfft. I've heard this one before. I got them in the Army and thought
it was from an "infected Army blanket". Turned out my fiancee had
been messing around and caught them from another guy, then passed them
on to me.

Are you sure you're talking about the same ailment?? <vbg>
Looks like one for Discovery Channel "Mythbusters"! You can't get
Scabies from shells. Also, Grand Cayman has the highest standard of
living including a national health program than any other Caribbean
island. It is highly unlikely that anyone on Grand Cayman would have
scabies.

Cute, yes. But kitties are even cuter.
Added benefits:
1. They don't slobber all over you.
2. They hide their poop in boxes so you never step in it.
3. Their furry little feet are quiet and don't scratch up the hardwood
floors.
4. They mature into independent thinkers who can amuse themselves and don't
fuss when you are away for a couple of days.
5. See number 2.
6. They can press the speed dial with their little paws and summon the cops.
(Unfortunately, their timing may be most inappropriate.)
7. They don't bark.
8. Mail service has never been discontinued for an entire city block because
of a cat.
9. They are better in "staring" contests than dogs.
10. They aren't into packs, and would never consider cruising in groups or
posting to Cruise Critic. ;-)
BUT, as Ogden Nash put it:
The trouble with a kitten is that
It eventually becomes a cat.

I prefer adult cats.
That shouldn't surprise anyone here. ;-)

How are they getting along? Since you have developed a favorite.
<No, not Hans>
Penny, on the other hand, is more of a dog person.

That's how me and Hubby started too!

Woof! A cutie.

Love them all even though you prefer one to another.
Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself!<g> Both of my
neighbors have beautiful newborn kittens.
My cat Annie will be 17 years old on her next birthday, if she lives
that long. Annie is having some health problems. Right now I am
enjoying every moment I have with her. I still have two feral cats I
feed, and with time, I hope to tame them. I can pick one of them up
already.

Oooh, good progress. Ferals are a challenge. Office Kitty is a feral.
From absolute terror to absolute, er, pussycat.
Ahhhh....I know that training.
You have done a great job to have Annie so long. Our last two cats (females)
lived almost as long as Annie. I miss one of them very much, especially when I
see sun rays come into the window and she's not there to stretch backwards at
full length and soak them up.
Sigh...
