Has anyone been on the Stingray City & Snorkel excursion? If so, how much did
it cost & did you enjoy it?

Thanks!!

We were on in during our Carnival Victory 2/4/01 cruise.

It was wonderful. Price was around $40 per person. Book the earliest
excursion you can, as the seas can be rough and they will often cancel the
later trips. We were the 7:30 am excursion, and every other one was
cancelled due to rough seas.

The excursion itself was awesome. For some (limited) pictures, see my
Carnival Victory review at www.usol.com/~fins2dryt/vacation

Enjoy!

Was there any land based Stingray City tours available other than the ships
excursion? I heard you can get the same trip directly on the pier from locals
and it's a whole lot cheaper.

Great trip: See more info at:
http://www.cayman.org/divesite/stingray.htm

Don't take the ship's tour unless you love travelling in
crowds. You can ask a couple of the local operators who only do
Stingray City and North Sound trips (in small groups) for more
infomation and rates etc directly at:

<cro...@cayman.org> http://www.cayman.org/crosby/
<fra...@cayman.org> http://www.cayman.org/franks/
<captai...@cayman.org> http://www.cayman.org/captainbryan/

If you want to scuba dive, the complete list of scuba operators
is at:
http://www.cayman.org/scuba/

Hope this helps,

- Don

We used captainbryan (see below) in Juanuary. It was ok and the charge was
only $30 per person as compared to ~$50 for the ship's excursions. When we
paid, they said the fee was $35, but they gladly changed it back to $30 when
I said that's what they had emailed to me. The boat was run by two nice
young friendly fellows We only had 9 people on board (we were 6 of the 9).
They would normally take about 16 at most. They do NOT provide anything to
drink (including water). They do have an ice chest that you can put your
own stuff in. They took us to three spots, including the Stingray sand bar.
This was a great experience. Their "office" was a small house about 1/3
mile from the tender pier. From there they will drive you to the boat about
15 minutes away.

Last yr, we walked down to Capt Bryan's on the advice of people here but
the place was closed!!!We walked back to the pier where there were many
other people to buy the stingray excursion from. We went with George
Bush (really his name) it was cheaper than the ships costs and it did
include a drink (of thesoft variety)
