Celebrity Cruises Implements Luxury Hotel Evaluation
MIAMI, Dec. 6
Adapting a practice that has raised the service standards and
performance of some of the world's finest hotels, Celebrity Cruises
has become the first cruise line to partner with Richey International
in an exclusive quality assessment program.
An organization counting among its clients approximately two-thirds of
the hotels regularly ranked among the world's best, and providing one
of the most comprehensive survey instruments in the hospitality
industry, Richey International will evaluate all aspects of guest
services on every ship in the Celebrity fleet via traveling incognito,
then will provide Celebrity with a comprehensive qualitative and
quantitative evaluation. Richey also will conduct benchmarking and
other services for Celebrity.
"This is an exciting tool in the ongoing development of the Celebrity
brand, as it will allow us to quickly identify where our greatest
strengths and challenges are, and where to focus our most intensive
training to deliver the ultimate premium cruise experience with a
taste of luxury," said Celebrity's Senior Vice President of Fleet
Operations, Dietmar Wertanzl.
Following the initial evaluation conducted by Richey personnel,
Celebrity will implement with Richey a proprietary evaluation system
resulting in direct quantitative data and analyses in areas such as
cleanliness, courtesy, efficiency, facility condition, cash/billing
accuracy, sales/merchandising skills, and technical skills.
The highest-rated premium cruise line in the industry, Celebrity
Cruises' nine-ship fleet is the youngest of any major cruise line.
Celebrity sails in Alaska, Bermuda, the Caribbean, Europe, Hawaii, the
Panama Canal and South America. For more information, call your travel
agent.

Hi Everyone,
I wonder if they will get any new employees for this difficult job.
Any volunteers? <vbg>

In this case he withheld Celebrity's phone number and website denying them
information that Celebrity wanted consumers to have
Ray has so little self esteem or confidence in his abilities as a Travel
Agent that he's afraid showing a phone number or website will cost him a
sale.
Kind of sad really.

And maybe now they will get rid of that freaking "Head Housekeeper"gratuity
once and for all.
Arne
I gotta admit that for the first time ever, the trolls have a valid point.
Was that an oversight Ray, or intentional?
Arne
Ray can't answer.
If he responds he either has to lie and say it is an oversight or admit that
it was done intentionally and that he regularly alters information without
the author's consent to suit his own purposes. Ray knows that if he claims
it's an oversight, those of us that monitor his sleazy tactics would
immediately provide proof that selectively altering the truth is his normal
practice
Since neither option is palatable to Ray, he won't say anything.
Don't worry though, the mindless Ray groupies will rally around him

Is there any question in my mind that he does it to entice people to use his
services? Of course not. There are a lot of people out there who will read
and respond to his messages. If they do, good for Ray.
10 years ago I booked a cruise through Prodigy and the agency, whatever they
were called turned out to be Rosenbluth, who had booked my honeymoon back in
1957. When the agent that helped us left Rosenbluth she took my name and
later she contacted me. At the time I had an agent/friend who was handling
our bookings and I told her as much.
But in late 1997 I had a falling out with the agent/friend and the group
that we had been traveling with, and I contacted Susan. She is working on
our fourth cruise with her, all because she spent the time and effort to
contact me in case we ever needed her.
Like I said last night to someone who criticized be for "top posting", if
where I post offends you, don't read my messages and lose my 30 years of
experience.
If you don't like Ray's posts, don't read them, but I'll bet that everybody
does and then runs to their agents.
Ray gets an "attaboy" from me.

Ray doesn't post information. Ray advertises. At least you admit it -- he
posts only to "entice people to use his services". Ray, of course, denies
this insulting our intelligence. He assumes we are all Carnival goobers and
not very smart. Also, if he admitted it, he would concede he is violating
this newsgroup charter.
As if that isn't bad enough, his "news posts" are selectively altered. He
posts articles claiming they are from some reputable organization but
changes the content to suit his commercial purposes without informing
anyone.
Look Dick, we all know Ray reads each and every message on this newsgroup
and posts every day -- hundreds of times a week.
But, as I stated earlier, he won't respond to this accusation because he can
not defend what he does.
I call the sleaze.

You just don't get it.
I work for a major mailorder video company, thus the e-mail ID. If you
write to us, we capture your name and you become part of our e-mail
advertising program. What is wrong with that? It works for us in that it
offends less people than it informs.
If Ray offends you, don't use him. If he provides you with some information
that some day might encourage you to cruise, maybe you will use him.
Ray is not my TA, Susan Helfrich at Swain World Travel at 1-800-60SWAIN is.
Call him, call her and you will, I am sure, get outstanding service.

Nothing is wrong with e-mail advertising it affords businesses an
inexpensive opportunity to get their message out.
The problem I have Dick is that this newsgroup was set up for non-commercial
purposes. There is a newsgroup - rec.travel.marketplace - set up for
advertising. This newsgroup charter expressly forbids advertising.
Ray violates that charter buy as you put it posting only to "entice people
to use his services". He points people to his website every chance he gets
yet pretends he's not advertising at all as if we're too stupid to realize
what he's doing.
That's bad enough.
But worse is his taking a news article, altering the content purely for his
own commercial purposes then posting it as if the altered article came from
the original news source.
That's not advertising, Dick, that's sleaze.
Happy holidays
Paul
P.S. As I said earlier, although Ray has undoubtedly read this thread (he
reads everything) and posted other information, he won't respond here. How
can he?

That is called spamming unless you make it opt in and opt out. Because
of spam I have to use a service called Postini. 99% of the spam never
gets to my in box.

To me the information that Ray spends his time providing far outweighs the
benefits that he may get from all of his posts.
Every two weeks my company sends an e-mail to all of the addresses that we
have captured because you have written to us, or bought from us. Right now
we are at about 200,000 names. Included in the message is a legitimate way
of being permanently eliminated, yet a minimum of 100 people refuse to
follow the instructions and waste my time eliminating them.
If we send 200,000 e-mails and we get more than 200 positive responses, that
is considered a good ratio.
It isn't like Ray is cleaning up, because if he is, where is mine as his
benefactor?
Grow up, Paul.

Your message makes it appear that you cannot "opt out" from our messages
which is not true.
Granted that I do not know how you can opt-out from Ray with the exception
of not opening any messages from him.

Allen
The people who are on our mailing list are there because they contacted the
company, either by e-mailing us, or by making a purchase.
We have never purchased an e-mail address. Everyone on our list contacted
us first, and anyone who does not want to receive further messages can click
a link that is provided on every message and be permanently removed.
That is, in the opinion of management and our attorneys, good business
practice and definitely not SPAM.

From your description I would say that is definitely NOT Spam. I believe
the definition of Spam is "unsolicited" e-mail.What you describe is as you
say "Good business Practice"

It is spam if they did not opt-in. Contacting your company is not
opting in. It would never have anything to do with a company that acted
in that fashion.
