What exactly is there to do on this island? We stopped here on Princess,
but it was their "private" island stop. Is there even a town on this
part of the Bahamas???I don't mean to sound like an ignoramus, but I
don't remember hearing of any major town etc...on this particular island
and since I am kinda planning this next cruise with the ggc 2000, for 4
others who have never cruised, I wanted to know a little more about this
stop. Is it anything like Grand Bahama Island with casinos or more like
the private island which is basically just a beach?
thanks, megan

I hope this doesn't disappoint you but there are no casinos on this island.
To quote the Boston Globe * This island is famous for it's beaches and
friendly people* That's good enough for me!

Dunmore Town is the only real settlement on Harbour Island, Eleuthera. It was
also the Capital of the Bahamas at one time. This is the main part of
Eleuthera and is described as a New England style village. There is a small
straw market here, other small stores/gift shops and a few good restaurants.
Eleuthera's main industry is tourism, but (according to the Globe) does not
have that touristy feel.

Not much more to tell as far as I can gather. There are a couple of links at
the GGC2000 web site if you care to investigate further. There is also a
bullitin board at one of these sites. The GGC2000 web site can be found at:
