My husband an I are planning a cruise from NYC on either carnivals
legend or royal carrib voyager. I have a couple questions do you spend
enough time on the islands and which one seems to the better of the
islands and which cruise ship is better in general????

Shelly,

We went to the Carnival Legend last year 6/2003. Here is the summary:
We like:
* It is 8 days cruise so if RCI is only 7 days, you should factor in the
price.
* The Legend is a new ship and it is very nice.
* The buffet had many choices including Chinese food every lunch.
* Dinner food was excellent and the deserts were very good, a lot of them we
never had them before (I believe unless you go to expensive restaurant).
* St. Thomas stop was very nice and the beach at St. John was beautiful
(better than you see on TV). Do your own tour is much cheaper, don't take
the tour from Carnival (we did and more expensive and not well organize).
* We had 13 people and was able to sit together for dinner
* Workers are very friendly.

We did not like:

* Long days at the sea and some days along US coast can be rough.
* The shows was not good as we were with Carnival Sensation in 6/01. The
Cruise Director was OK.
* The head of the dinning room (Maitre ,,,,) was useless no help but very
cheerful the last night to collect the tips.
* The last stop Tortola was very short (We had a beautiful tour but a little
expensive)
* San Juan stop not much to see and again it is cheaper just go out and join
other passengers for bus tour is cheaper and more fun (the driver works for
their own ---> more fun)

I enjoyed the Legend and the Voyager, but I did not cruise out of New
York, I cruised out of Florida.

Both of these ships are lovely, I think you would have a nice time on
either one of them. I liked the cabin on the Legend. I enjoyed the
adults only solarium on the Voyager. The buffet food was better on the
Legend but the dining room food was similar on both ships.

The Voyager has a rock climbing wall, a mini golf course, golf
simulator, ice skating rink, inline skating, basketball. If you enjoy
these activities, maybe this ship is right for you.

Becca <-----enjoy your cruise...
