Are mega cruise ships carrying 2,000 plus too big for you. I came
across this listing while surfing the net:

American Canadian Caribbean Line
www.accl-smallships.com
1-800-556-7450

The ship carries 96 guests, casual dress, US flagged, and expedition
style. And here's the best for those who prefer their own wine, scotch
or whatever. This is a BYOB cruise. There are on board
naturalists/guides (not nudists...naturalists). There is also a kayak
adventure excursion package.

I have not sailed on any of the ACCL ships. so I cannot comment. I am
posting this for those of you who want something more intimate and wish
to explore ports that the big ships can't visit.

I've seen at least one of the ships on the Intercoastal waterway
cruise.

I sailed ACCL on a Great Lakes Cruise this past June. Speaking only
from that perspective, dining is not the same as it is on the larger
ships. There is a set menu for each meal and it is posted the day
before. If you don't like or are allergic to something on their menu,
you can order something else if you tell them far in advance. The food
was excellent, however, and on a 6-night cruise, all meals were
different. The condition of the ship was not very good. The
combination bathroom/shower was extremely tiny. The shower hose was in
the tiny space between the toilet and the sink. Each cabin has its own
hot water tank, which ran out in about 7 minutes. Then you had to wait
about 15 minutes for more hot water. If there were 2 people in a cabin,
that was a problem. There is no entertainment per se. The common area
had a screen which tracked our position and was also used for movies in
the evening. There was a small take one/leave one library. BYOB was a
popular feature. On 2 nights, the ship treated us to a cocktail hour
prior to dinner. The cruise was expensive. All that being said, I did
like packing once and waking up in a different city every day, so I
would like to try a cruise on a large ship.
