Hi Marsha,

Thanks for the news. I confess to being very surprised that the cruise ship
rooms aren't needed and that there are so many accommodations still
available. I was expecting an avalanche of spectators for the winter games.
I also confess to being very surprised at the room rates they are throwing
around because $650.00 per night is a little higher than I usually spend
for a hotel room. I notice they had some bargain rates at $550.00/night, so
if my six or eight best friends share with me it gets affordable. I suppose
the price has something to do with the availability. The games aren't long
off, but maybe the prices will come down quite a bit as the torch gets
closer. I do hope the games go well for our northern neighbors.

Will Tobie and Barb be renting out space?

We stayed at Whistler resort a couple of years ago and off season rate
was $200-300 while season rate was $400-600 then. The rates really
haven't changed all that much

I am going to guess the reason the rooms ren't needed is that noone can get
tickets to the events! we have been trying all year as have other friends
(who have all been to multiple olympics) and nothing has been available.
even the presales to canadien citizens have been difficult. i thinmk they
were all bought up by agencies where you have to book their package which is
super expensive or sponserships.

it's frustrating. we could get a room reasonably and air but no events!!

Sheree, I have a friend who bought tickets to eight different events
last night. I wish you good luck!
