My parents and Aunt and Uncle took an anniversary cruise last year on
the century. To make it fun I put together the Great Anniversary Cruise
Present box filled with indivdually wrapped presents for them to open.
Each present had a gift for both couples in it (2 of the same item or 4
of the same item) and an little note explaining what the gift was to be
used for. Each person took it in turn to unwrap a gift, read the note
and then hand out the presents in that gift. Items wrapped included
things from the packing lists posted to the newsgroup:
little flashlights
Highlighters
Baseball Hats
Sunscreen
little shampoos/nice bath stuff for the ladies
a small medicine kit containing aspirin/tums/cold pills/ sudafed etc
Big clips to clip towels to chairs/curtains closed/wet laundry
each couple got a bag that folded up to nothing to take towels etc to
the beach
Fanny packs
ear plugs!
They each got a couple of small airline bottles of scotch with cocktail
napkins
99 cent throw away rain coats
I did not do candles but you could!
I wanted to do aqua shoes but did not know peoples sizes
Anyway - there was more but I am sure that you get the idea. they all
had fun and the gifts were more then useful on the cruise. Hope this
helps
Cheers

Disposable underwater cameras. Even if they don't go snorkling, having
them waterproof is nice.
If they have a regular camera, a lightweight tripod is nice. I saw a
decent Vivitar at Walmart for 19.95.
If they don't have one already, some sort of camera, either a SLR or a
Point & Shoot.
Garmet Bag for a tux or suit.
Money!
Money put on their on-board account.(Call the cruise line and and see if
you can use your credit card to put money in their onboard account).
Snorkling equipment.
Sandals.
Swimsuits.
That is a start.
Enjoy your cruise.

If you want to bring back gifts from the ship and cruise, the best thing
is things like T-shirts, sweat shirts, jackets, etc. from the ship's
logo shop or from the different islands.
ps Bring and empty collapsible bag that you can stuff empty in your
luggage. You can fill it with all the stuff you buy.
and second ps Don't buy things that are breakable or delicate.

Disposable Underwater Cameras (already mentioned)
A decent pair of Binoculars
Prepaid Film processing for when you get back with all the cameras
An Atlas of where you are going so you can see where the next stop is, etc
Really good Binoculars
Little waterproof containers for the stuff you bring to the beach
Ship board credits, or arrange for a bottle of wine to be in the cabin
Sunglasses (already mentioned)
First aid stuff for the inevitable sunburn, if so inclined to burn
Cufflinks, Buttons (men), Pins or Jewelry (women) for everybody to wear on
formal night as a family.
A formal portrait of the family while on board and all dressed up (bring
Santa hats for that great sense of humor look)
Did I mention the really good pair of binoculars (Believe it or not, I've
forgotten to buy them each and every cruise)
An inexpensive small stereo so you can bring CD's and play them in the cabin
(or if you have a walkman then a set of amplified speakers to play CD's or
Tapes when getting ready for dinner, etc.)
Makeovers, Massages, Mud Packs, whatever in the ship's salon
Some shore excrusion you wouldn't normally do because of the price (ie
helicopter ride or something) if you have the list already
Guess that's enough for now.

My mother-in-law gives me wonderful outfits to wear - a white shorts
set, a beaded blouse - things I would never buy myself but which look
great!!!!!

My sister did the same for my parents. She bought a beautiful photo album
which I believe had a nautical theme on the cover. She also bought them travel
journals. The covers had the look of a world atlas. Is it any wonder SHE is
the favorite daughter?
