GTS Millenium arrived Oslo July 3. in beautiful warm summer weather. I
thought the ship looked stunning! Unlike some other comments, I thought the
ship had a lot of character and identity. Yes, she looks different. How
refreshing! The verandahs looked spacious and well designed. Not enclosed
like on most of the Princess ships. This is certainly not "0ne out of 8
identical Carnival Fantasy class ships" The Captain (forgot the name) was
interviewed on Norwegain national TV, and he explained how the gas turbine
engines will reduce pollution , and we were taken on a visual tour of the
ship's interior. Just beautiful! I spoke to a few of the passengers, all of
them raved about the ship. Some complained that they had too short time in
port. From what I can see, GTS Millenium will most likely become another
huge hit for Celebrity cruises!

Can anyone tell me what the GTS stands for?

Is it Gas Turbine Steam?

Hi John!

GTS usually stands for Gas Turbine Ship. The Finnish cruise ferry "Finnjet" has
been operating with gas turbines since 1976.

I still haven't seen anything official from Celebrity as to what prefix the
"Millennium" officially has. GTS would be okay, but TSS would also be correct.
At least Douglas Ward is completely wrong when calling her M/S "Millennium".

How would TSS be correct? Got the T for turbine and S for ship, but
what's the other S for?

Celebrity has "GTS MILLENNIUM" printed on the canvas covers of the ganways
they use in port.

Hi Tim!

Thanks for the info. I think GTS is the most fitting prefix.

Tom, TSS means Turbine Steam Ship. As "Millennium" also has a steam turbine to
back up the gas turbines, TSS would also be acceptable, but GTS is better.

Raoul,

Tom's question raised a good point and piqued my curiosity. In your opinion,
is the Millennium a "TSS" even though she uses the "GTS" prefix?
