We are cruising in July and got better flights into Ft. Lauderdale. What are
some of the best options to get a family of 5 down to the Port of Miami?
Cab, shuttle, limo, light rail, etc?

If you are flying the day of departure, have your TA check on the price of
cruiseline transfers. The cruiselines utilize both FLL and Miami airports and
have buses going between the airports and the port and will sell you a transfer
even if you book you own air. This is probably the most economical
transportation. If you travel the day priorto embarkation than you will have to
make your own arrangements.

Greyhound provided service and it's about $5-6/person. If I can recall, I
checked last week, they run every half hour or so. The cruise line charge
about $20-25/person and must wait for other airplanes so that they can
accomodate other people.

For a family of 5 I would hop in the first available taxi. We have never
paid more than $50.00 including tip for our group of 3. That works out to
$10.00 per person for you, a bargain when you consider that you will have no
hassles!. Just get the hack # of your driver. We have had two reasons for
needing this in the past. This year my daughter left her bag in the taxi
with her brand new GameBoy and well loved book. and I almost lost my husband
when he dropped us off and went shopping for a while and didn't come back
for HOURS.
That's a long story I'll share later :0
