As a surprise for my 14 year old daughter, we are taking her on the Sensation
for her first cruise during spring break. Does anyone have any recent
experiences or comments about the ship? My husand and I have cruised before,
this is the first with kids.

Patti,
We were on the Sensation the last week of January and just loved it! When you
get to Grand Cayman, I highly recommend the Cockatoo Catamaran to Sting Ray
City. It is a bit more expensive then other sting ray tours, but it is worth
it for the smaller group (around 40-60 people) and the sailing is neat.
When you get to New Orleans and the French quarter, get a Po' Boy at Jimmy's
Po' Boy. Before you order, watch what people are getting (the crawfish one
looked great) - the size and variety are incredible.
Otherwise, just enjoy the ship - you'll never lack for anything to do or eat!

We are booked on the Cockatoo Catamaran to Sting Ray City, the end of
March. It sounded like it would be a little different. Can you tell me
about the Catamaran, if there is any shade, rest rooms etc.
Thanks,
sue

I got a Muffalata there, and it was FANTASTIC!!! I only ate half that day,
and saved the other half in my fridge for lunch the next day. People on deck
were watching me with envy as I snarfed down that second half!

I was forced to eat mine while ashore as I was in Steerage! <G>

I added just a little boudin and some shrimp creole just to make it
interesting....

There is no restroom on the Catamaran nor really any shade to speak of.. It is
essentially two thin pontoonlike floats on either side with a platform in the
back half and a large trampoline like front half. The entire craft must be 50
feet long and 30 feet wide. A sail comes up from the center of the boat. When
you leave the harbor they put up the sail, and if it is a breezy day like we
had, you really get a thrilling ride - but very smooth.

This is another reason why you need to watch before ordering - we ordered a
muffaleta AND a po' boy and either one would have fed us both for about $7.50!
(BTW this is not a sit down place, you order over an old style delicatessan
type cooler).

Thanks, it sound like it will be a lot of fun. We did the regular
stingray tour last time we were there, but I was just recooping from
surgery and cound not spend much time in the water with the rays. So I
want to go back and this sounded like it would be fun.

We were on the Sensation last spring. The kids seem to have a great time on
board.. Decent dining room food but great pizza. Roger
