My husbands entire family (26 in total), are going on Princess Land/Cruise
tour of Alaska in late June. We are thinking about renting a couple of
large vans when we are in Juneau.

Can anyone tell me what car rental agencies are available in Juneau? Can we
make arrangements for the vans to be picked up and dropped off at the dock?
If not, how far away are the car rental offices - - and how much of a hassle
are we going to have getting the vehicle and dropping it off (we don't want
to waste a lot of our port time, getting a van and returning it).

Once again thanks for all of the helpful advice.

Sandi

In article <sItM6.22540$u5.57...@news1.rdc1.ne.home.com>,

All the majors are at the airport but as far as I can tell, do not offer
any dockside pickup. The airport is several miles out of town.

We are renting a car from AllStar (based on advice from this group). They
will pickup and dropoff at the dock. No idea if they have vans.
800-722-0741 or 808-790-2414.

What ship and date? We are on Dawn Princess 6/23.

I was the poster with the rental information in Juneau as I have done it
several times. I rent from All Star as the other poster stated, they provide
dock transfers but do allow their cars left downtown. They are 10 miles away.
I have never seen vans there. None of the major rental companies include
transfers all are at the airport 9 miles away. You would have to get a cab but
vans probably would be more available.. There is also Rent A Wreck-
907-789-4111 but they close at 6pm where All Star will transfer via
appointment.

I also tried to respond to your White Pass question but got booted. The main
reason to consider this trip is for the Gold Rush History and engineering
marvel. Consider an afternoon trip and Visit the Park Service Museum for some
background- will really enhance your later train ride. Located at Broadway and
Second. The Alaska RR is very different as it is a modern transportation based
RR with Mt. McKinley not visable most of the time. :(, scenery is spectacular
at the Summit of the White Pass. Consider directly booking if available for
you at www.whitepassrailroad.com usually some savings.
