Is it possible to rent a car for one day in Le Havre to see the area
sights, such as Caen and Bayeux? I checked with Autoeurope but its
minimum rental is for three days. Ideally someone would meet us at
the port with the car, but perhaps that is not realistic, particularly
because we are arriving on a Sunday. Any suggestions would be
appreciated.

Absolutely, and if you want to see Normandy, including Bayeux, the American
Cemetery near Omaha Beach, and Arromanches (site of British landings at Gold
Beach), it's the way to go. One day car rental is much cheaper than what
the cruise line will charge for 2 tours (and if you go with another couple,
it's a better deal yet). We rented our car through National rent-a-car.
Took a taxi from dock to car rental agency, but they drove us back to ship.
However, since you'll be there on a Sunday, better make sure of agency's
hours.

We did last year thru Hertz just before Ren went belly up. We took taxi to
rental place and they drove us back to ship. Worked great. In some ports they
have delivered car to port but not in LeHavre.

Agree with double checking for Sunday availability
