Some thoughts;
Canal cruises are generally 10+ days... so an older crowd.
If the ships itinerary is doing one-way's from say Fl to Costa Rica, much of the
food will be provisioned in FL.
On these one way cruises the air fare can be tricky $$.
Stay an extra 3+ days in Costa Rica.
In march and april you have the least rain.
As for ships... for me its HAL... for their great staff and the best outdoor
viewing of any ship. The (2) shots (below links) show The Massdam's bow while we
were going through the canal... I cant think of another line ship that you can go
all the way to the bow... and of course with HAL, they covered the sides with
awnings and had beverages and snacks.
HALs private island.. half moon cay is REALLY nice to wake up to your first day
out of FL.
