NEW PINNACLE GRILL ALTERNATIVE RESTAURANTS TO BE ADDED TO NINE HOLLAND
AMERICA SHIPS
Seattle, May 8, 2003
After debuting the new Pinnacle Grill alternative restaurant concept
on sister ships ms Statendam and ms Ryndam last October to excellent
reviews and full capacity, Holland America Line has expanded the
restaurant concept to nine of the line's vessels. The Pinnacle Grill
restaurant features fine Pacific Northwest specialties and wines in a
romantic, upscale atmosphere.
"Based on the overwhelming feedback from our guests about the Pinnacle
Grill, it made sense to add this restaurant to more of our ships,"
said David A. Giersdorf, senior vice president, marketing and sales.
"This alternative dining venue features the best of Pacific Northwest
cuisine and style, high-quality ingredients, fine wines and elegant
presentation, offering our guests even more options in Holland
America's premium cruise experience."
The 1,800-square-foot restaurant's 2003 rollout schedule began with
the Volendam in February and continues on the Rotterdam, Zaandam and
the Amsterdam in April; the Prinsendam in May and the Maasdam in
October. The Pinnacle Grill has already been enthusiastically embraced
by passengers aboard the Zuiderdam and will be added to the Oosterdam
during the ship's final phase of construction in summer 2003. The
Pinnacle Grill concept will be added to the Veendam in the spring of
2004.
The décor of the Pinnacle Grills features warm fabrics complemented by
fine wood accents evocative of the Pacific Northwest. The restaurant
will offer carefully selected wines from renowned Pacific Northwest
vineyards including Chateau Ste. Michelle, Canoe Ridge, Willamette
Valley Vineyards and Tualatin Estates.
A typical evening's menu provides a wide selection of dining choices
including Dungeness Crab Cakes with Spiral Shaved Cucumber & Sweet
Chili Sauce, Seared Duck Breast and Beefsteak Tomato Salad.
Entrees may include Pan-Seared Rosemary Chicken with Cranberry
Chutney, Grande Wilde Mushroom Ravioli with Pesto Cream Sauce, or Lamb
Rack Chops with Drizzled Mint Sauce. Also available are premium
"Sterling Silver" hand-selected cuts of beef unsurpassed in tenderness
and taste, including bone-in Delmonico rib-eye steak, center-cut
Porterhouse steak and two sizes of filet mignon. Side dishes will
feature such choices as Washington Spuds au Gratin, Grilled Asparagus
avec Béarnaise, Sautéed Button Mushrooms or a Honey Maple Three-Bean
Ragout. Delectable desserts, featuring Pacific Northwest ingredients
include Warm Grand Marnier Chocolate Volcano Cake, a Lemon Berry Angel
Shortcake, and Not-so-Classic Baked Alaska.
Guests who wish to dine in the Pinnacle Grill for dinner may do so
with an advance reservation; there is a modest charge of $20 per
person.
