What's everyone's favorite beaches in Aruba and Curacao?

Any suggestions? Going there Easter Break.

We've never been to Curacao before, and last year in Aruba we spent most of
the time on an island tour. So this time we want beaches.

Tom, I can't help with beaches, but when you are in Curacao go and have
a drink or a snack at one of the outdoor cafes right along the water,
right by the floating bride. It is really cool sitting and watching the
ships(not cruise ships) go by so close to you. I have some pictures on
our webshots site, if you don't have it email me and I will send you the
link.

sue - heading out to dinner with good friends!!

Tom, when we were onboard Westerdam last year, the Cruise Director
recommended going to Hyatt Regency and use their beach. I doubted
this was allowed, so I called the Purser's Desk. I was informed that,
yes, it was perfectly alright to do and Hyatt "welcomed" guests from
cruise ships. The Purser's Desk actually mentioned 3 different hotels
that offered this, but I can't remember the other names (I think one
was Marriott and I forget the other one). Anyway, they told us to
just get off the ship and hire a taxi to take us to the Hyatt (they
recommended Hyatt as the best of the 3). We did just that; our taxi
driver called ahead to a friend that we were coming, and he met us as
we got out of the taxi. We were chargedf $5 per lounge chair for the
day and the friend was "ours" for the day. If we needed a drink, we
were to summon him. He kind of hung out between the pool and beach
area. We were even allowed to use the pool. He got my husband a nice
place in the shade and a spot for me in the sun. The beach was
beautiful (Hyatt Regency is on Palm Beach, I believe) and there was a
dock that extended over the water where we went for some lunch and
cocktails. It was a wonderful day and we plan on going back there
next month when we're onboard the Westerdam again.

BTW, HAL aside, we're hooked on Celebrity. Just got off a 10 day
Constellation, and will be back onboard Constellation Oct. 30 for an
11 night repo from Bayonne. And we booked the Solstice with George's
GGC2009 for next February. Not sure if it was the "welcome aboard"
champagne and escort to cabin (nice touch, even though I don't drink
champagne) or the sorbet parade, but they've hooked us hook, line, and
sinker!

We are counting down the days until our April 11th repositioning cruise
on the Constellation. Have heard wonderful things about this ship but
already knew Celebrity was tops with us. Yes the champagne & escort are
VERY IMPORTANT., not that we need either one. We did a cruise on
another line where NO ONE was present to greet the passengers. It made
us feel "we got your money, so go fend for yourself.

Did you find them hiding the old people on HAL? Charles says they hide the
old people (even though Jean says they don't), so I've been asking people
who go on HAL lately if they've found out where they hide the old people.
Even Ken G. didn't see where they were hiding the old people when he want on
HAL a few weeks ago. (hehehehe)

What I miss the most is the Zenith to Bermuda from NYC/Bayonne. I don't
think I've been on a Celebrity ship in almost 3 years.

And I've recently become a Cunard fan... though you really have to not mind
dressing to the hilt. We're dong a crossing this June on the QM2 and you
have to wear a jacket even on elegant casual nights. There are 3 formal
nights, 1 semi formal, and 2 elegant casual. My kids did a crossing on the
QM2 last summer, and even they loved the QM2. My daughter said that she
wished we were going later in the summer (after school lets out) so she
could go on the crossing - that's how much she liked it.

I found Cunard very similar, overall, to Celebrity. Though Celebrity might
have a few nicer "touches" like the white gloved escort to your cabin and
the waiters that help ladies and kids with their trays in the buffet. But
Cunard does it all very nicely as well. And I really liked the QM2. I
think because of her museum type interior decorations (lots of maritime
artwork, historical panels, etc.), I might put her up a notch over Connie
into first place as my favorite ship ever. I think Connie is a better
Caribbean ship (she has a much nicer pool deck area)... but I think the QM2
is a better colder weather itinerary (Northern Europe, Transatlantic
Crossing, Canada/New England) type ship. On the other hand, if kids are
going, noting beats Voyager Class.

Hay Tom i think most people on the Noordam last week wish they were
old people on her with all the kids LOL !! We are doing the same
cruise next March 8th on the AOS . She looks to be in good shape .She
was docked next to us in St Maarten last week .She"s doing i think the
best ports in the Caribbean on a 7 day cruise ..Sue was very
right ,stop by one of those waterfront cafes in Curacao to have a
drink .Last year on the Empress i did ,and one of the MSC ships was
just coming in .They opened up the floating bridge .It was a great
site .I love Aruba & Curacao. In Aruba there"s a resort that has it
own island .You take a boat over from town were the ship is
docked .You can pay to use the beach and resort .I was going to do it
last year . But took the bus over to Palm beach .It"s a good beach
that"s open up to everybody .But most of the resorts will not let you
go thought to get to the beach . There is a public walkway just ask
the bus driver !! The bus"s are very good getting around the beach
area"s . We been to both islands alot .We honeymooned in Aruba in
1980 .There was nothing at all in town .And only 4 hotels on palm
beach back them. The Concord resort had just open up .We stayed at the
Aruba Americana resort .It"s has a new name now . Tom K one of those
baby boomer"s who will be on HAL very soon LOL !!!
