HOLLAND AMERICA'S OOSTERDAM TO SAIL MAIDEN VOYAGE, FIRST OF FOUR
BALTIC INTINERARIES, ON AUG. 3, 2003
Seattle, WA- March 11, 2003
Holland America Line today announced a revised maiden voyage date of
Aug. 3, 2003 for the ms Oosterdam, the second of the line's
Vista-class ships. The 1,848 passenger Oosterdam's maiden voyage will
depart London (Harwich) on August 3, 2003. The ship's first two
scheduled sailings, Jul. 10 and Jul. 22, have been cancelled.
"The Oosterdam is the first Holland America ship to sail its maiden
voyage from Europe in five years," said A. Kirk Lanterman, Chairman
and CEO, Holland America Line. "This additional time provides an
opportunity to showcase the ship to the European market and ensure
that the crew and ship enter service at the highest possible
standard."
Guests who had booked passage on Jul. 10 or Jul. 22 will be able to
choose from many alternate sailing dates, including the Oosterdam's
four remaining Baltic itineraries. Guests scheduled on the canceled
sailings who rebook will also receive cabin upgrades and shipboard
credits. Agents will earn a re-booking fee of up to $500 per cabin.
Agents are encouraged to call (800) 391-6256 for more information.
The Oosterdam will now sail a total of four Baltic cruises between
London and Copenhagen with departures through Sept. 8. Its 12-day
itinerary includes Oslo, Norway; Arhus, Denmark; Warnemunde, Germany;
Visby, Sweden; Estonia; St. Petersburg; Helsinki; and Stockholm. On
Sept. 20, the Oosterdam offers a 12-day "European Capitals" cruise
from London to Rome, followed by four Western Mediterranean sailings
between Rome-Lisbon or Venice-Lisbon on Oct. 2, 14, 26 and Nov. 7. The
remarkable "European Capitals" cruise highlights the history-steeped
cities of Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Lisbon, Seville and Monte Carlo.
The Oosterdam concludes its Europe cruise season with a 14-day
transatlantic sailing Nov. 19 from Lisbon to Ft. Lauderdale.
At 85,000 tons, HAL's "Project Vista" series of premium ships are the
largest ever built for the company. They also boast a passenger space
ratio of 46, keeping the company firmly placed as the leader in
premium cruising.
The Vista-class ships feature innovative "exterior elevators," located
on both sides of the vessel and vertically transversing 10 decks,
providing guests with panoramic sea views. The ships also include a
wide range of spacious accommodation categories. About 85 percent of
the staterooms feature an ocean view, with approximately 80 percent of
those offering private verandahs.
The 951-foot-long ships build upon the hallmarks of the Holland
America brand, displaying extensive multi-million-dollar art
collections and a signature Waterford Crystal centerpiece in the
ship's atrium. The vessels feature numerous dining options, from
elegant full-service meals to casual Lido service and an upscale
gourmet restaurant. The ships also will continue other trademark
features of Holland America ships, including the Explorers Lounge,
Ocean Bar, an exterior covered promenade deck encircling the entire
ship, a large Lido pool with a retractable dome, and Holland America's
signature "Crow's Nest" observation lounge.

Edgar/Ray modified another Press Release.
He completely deleted the last sentence of the actual release and inserted
his own at the end. The last line of the actual release should
read:
"For more information, consult a professional travel agent, call
1-877-SAIL-HAL (877-724-5425) or visit www.hollandamerica.com"
Compare that to Edgar/Ray's version
After doing his unauthorized editing, he reposted the altered document as if
it were the real Press Release!

If you use a Travel Agent, pick an honest one.

I guess you love to be placed in the same boat as Paul.
You have read what RTC thinks on this matter and how press releses work.
But I forgot you think you are a expert on this.
Time to say Plonk....

We have your opinion on how Press Releases work.
The problem is, excepting for you and Edgar/Ray, no one else in the business
world believes that information contained in Press Releases can be deleted
or altered by a third party and then re-released as if it were the original.
In any event, Egar/Ray undoubtedly appreciates support from you and the
other Ray groupies.

I don't know who "Tom" is but if he is a friend of the "Goober King" then I
will killfile him as well.
How about this.....
If you have a problem with what Ray posts, and I will repeat this for those
who do not know me, Ray is not my TA and most likely never will be, killfile
Ray and allow the rest of us to read what is going on without the petty
bull$hit of whether he "alters" the information.
Of course he does. That is the price that we pay for having him do all of
the down and dirty work which we then use to book a cruise through whomever
we choose.
If we use Ray, then good for Ray.
I have never suffered any pain from having Ray Goldenberg "twist" my arm.

Paul,
Again, if it bothers you why not check with HAL. If they don't like it,
I'm sure they'll put an end to it. If it doesn't bother them, it's
probably not your concern.

See in the real world, nobody pays any attention to guys like Dick. Here
people respond to his posts making him feel important so he'll never go away
What kind of life is that?

You should be aware it is virtually impossible to prove a negative (prove I
didn't read a particular message on this newsgroup). Rather one proves
positives -- i.e. provide definitive proof that Ray has authorization from
empowered officials at all the cruise lines to modify their Press Releases.
But Ray claims he receives "special" Press Releases. Different from the
ones that go to other Travel Agents (I've checked), different from the ones
released to the general public, and different from the ones posted on the
cruise line websites.
These "Ray only" Press Releases have entire paragraphs deleted when compared
with the public version! And they also provide authorization exclusively to
Ray to make whatever changes he chooses and then re-release the document!
You can believe that if you want to.

Sorry, I only see Paul's messages when someone like you copies them. I have
Paul killfiled so that none of his messages are ever seen by me.
I see his bull$hit when someone like you repeats it.
Paul claims to be a CCL stockholder who hates the people who cruise his
cruise line.
Paul claims to be far above the class of people who cruise on Carnival,
referring to them as "Goobers".
Paul has something against Ray Goldenberg which makes him attack every
message that Ray writes.
I am at a loss to explain Paul's logic except that it just annoys the hell
out of those of us who use this group as a way of obtaining information.
