You will only be in port in the daytime when you are mostly out and about.
I would probably prefer a port side for most of the ports but just when you
get it all figured out, the ship backs in and boom you are on the "wrong"
side. Don't sweat it. it really doesn't matter that much.
If you are looking to land you often look to industrial dock, I prefer to
look out to water and you should have a great view of the harbor at

Aft 'side'?
And which is the aft side? Port or Starboard?
Aft facing cabins are the best. Especially on that class of ship.

I would agree that for sitting out while underway, one cannot beat an aft
balcony; however, while in port such a cabin will most likely have a
brilliant view of another ship's bridge.
It depends where ... On the Zuiderdam in Nassau we had a terrific view
of Paradise Island ... On leaving Miami ... we had a terrific view of
the QM2 ... but on return we dwarfed a Seabourn ship docked behind us

Which underscores the uncertainty of port or starboard, in Nassau one can
easily have a view to a ship beside you or Paradise island or if in an aft
cabin Paradise Island or the entrance to the harbor, or a ship docked
behind

On the Westerdam, we had a glorious view of Malta at sunset when we were
leaving..On the Empress of the Seas, we had the Owner's Suite which was on
the aft and had wonderful views of the middle of the wake while sailing and
the moon light glistening on that same wake as we sat out on the balcony at
night..We've lucked out getting an aft balcony four times. If one is not
available, I'd take a mid-ship balcony on the port side.
