I saw her last year and what a sad sight she was. How can the country ignore
a great icon like this once glorious ship. Whatever id decided for her,
almost anything is better than letting her sit and rot.

Seems like AMCV should work with the guvmint to bring this ship out of
mothballs and restore it to its original condition. I think that upgrading
the cabins with modern conveniences and restoring the public rooms to period
condition might appeal to people looking for the feel of how ocean crossings
used to be.

I have no idea if this is feasible, but I have a hard time thinking that it
could be cheaper to build a new ship than to fix up an old one.

Hi Manuel,

There is absolutely zero chance of that taking place. AMCV is
struggling to survive without taking on this huge project although it
would be wonderful to see her sailing again.

There is also a story with photo in Philly Paper. It is a very small paper
only in Center City Phila. phillypaper.com

Greeting Ray,
Have you done a previous posting on American Classic Voyages in a
struggle to survive. What is the story? I know there are troubles with
the new keels (in Pascagoula, MS??)
