Is there any alternative to the parking at the cruise port itself at $12 per
day?

This location near the airport is cheaper and offers free shuttle to the
port:

The rate must have just increased. I had a note that it was $4.50 per
day.....it's still better than the port & it's right near by.

There are five parking options in fort Lauderdale for Port Everglades
Cruises. One is a valet service, they use your vehicle (???) to take you
to the port rates $7.50 and up. Quality Car and Van Rental/Airport Park N
Go (small company / friendly staff), their rates are around $5 per day
(www.airportparkngo.com). The other is a national company - Park N Fly at
$7.50 per day (www.pnf.com) and the last is Florida Auto Rental at $6-7
per day. All the above companies have been used by clients going on
cruises or flying out of Fort Lauderdale. No major complaints about
any....I personally used Quality Car and Van / Airport Park N Go...see
their web site for free car wash coupon....www.airportparkngo.com.......

You bet!

I am surprised that none of the posters (including the elgrindo TA)
mentioned that some HOTELS have "free" parking as well as FREE shuttle
to and from the cruiseship pier!

Perhaps that's a policy ONLY for Elite guests. In any event, that was
what I used, for two 7-day cruises in March this year.
