I hardly ever watch Baywatch. But I was turning the channels at 7:00
tonight and there it was, Baywatch shot on the Dawn Princess. Beautiful
ship and it was in Alaska, Ketchikan, Glacier Bay, Inside Passage. Truly
beautiful. Even the plot wasn't half bad.

It was a 2 parter, I guess they will show the 2nd part next week at the
same time.

I know one Princess ship in Alaska was just used as the setting for the
Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, I think featuring some of the Baywatch
women. Might have been the same ship.

Must be a repeat cause the show was taped late August '97. Weather was
excellent I understand. Baywatch is noted for its fine scenery I hear,
but we don't get that channel here.....

Don't know about the particular episode, but I was on Dawn Princess when
the crew of Baywatch was filming ... in San Pedro harbor (LA), after we
docked on coastal repositioning from Vancouver ... the film crew and
actors weren't onboard (at that time) until we docked in LA. The day
they were onboard was Sept. 23, 1997.

And, they showcased the real ship much more than the new Love Boat did.
They used the real dining room (along with the real maitre'd -- Mario
Propato), our nice purser friend who does tours, the real Wheelhouse
bar, etc. The hair even moved when filming outside.

I think you also get a good look at the Alaskan ports of call.

The final part of this 3 part season finale airs at 6 PM this Saturday
on Channel 13 in LA. In Chicago, it airs on Sundays (don't know the
channel or time.)

And yes, the video is available for purchase ("White Thunder at Glacier
Bay" or something liek that) -- complete with scenes they could not air
on TV. Gee, wonder what those are?

Intelligent dialog had inadvertently slipped in; women wearing clothes
were in a scene; the cast actually lived on life-guard salaries...

In the future, hopefully, the 'v' chip will prevent this from happening.

Yes, they did. I do wish that LBNW (Love Boat New Wave) would show less
bikini clad young women and more of the ship's real public rooms.

Also I like Baywatch's (a bikini-clad showcase if ever there is one)
representation of cruise passengers. These looked like real cruise
passengers, not extras found on some beach.

What was nice was the shot of the ship along side of the port. It looked
maginificent and glorious. Very large, sleek and quite majestic.

Don't know but maybe R rated. The episode is pretty enjoyable. Except
for the silly bear chase, totally gratuitous and not believable and not
necessary, it was lighthearted, and very scenic entertainment.

You might check out the Baywatch site at

http://www.baywatchtv.com/feature/index.html

It is quite good. . . there are Vid clips, PICs and a map to tell you when
the show is on in your area.

BTW: if you watch any of the coverage from Cannes this week (CNN showbiz,
etc.). . . parked in the harbor is the 5 mask CLUB MED sailing ship. . . a
great ship!
