Hi Dick,

There is train service, rental cars, and cruise line motor coach.

Best regards,

There is also private limo. We were unable to book a one-way car rental,
but were able to get a limo (actually a mini -bus for 6 and luggage). The
train runs once a day, so you have to meet its schedule.

The cruise line motorcoach was actually quite interesting when we did it,
the guide was a woman who moved to Alaska because she got sick of the
weather in Hawaii. She was very entertaining.

Agreed! Last month our (Celebrity/RCCL) cruisline coach was driven by a
young man who had sailed up the coast from Seattle area to Anchorage in a
22 foot sail boat. His narration along the way for the 3 hour trip from
Seward to Anchorage was very entertaining.

there is the cruiseline bus, and private buses- listed at www.anchorage.net
(this would be my last choice), only rental car agency is Hertz, one of the
most scenic drives in the US, expect close to $200/day but definately worth it
for the added possiblities, Exit Glacier being one. Reserve a car anyway- then
cancel if your plans change- they are in short supply. I always rent it for
one day then turn it back in at the airport and pick up a cheap round trip
Anchorage car, well worth the 30 minutes to do so. There may be 2 train
options, a ship contracted train and the regular run of the Alaska RR-
superior for scenery. Most important if possible sit on the passenger side
leaving Anchorage drivers side from Seward- this allows full views of the Arm.
There may be assigned seats on the cruise contracted trains however. I have
done this trip many many times and never fail to be taken by the scenery and
adventures. :)

Look into the Park Connection:

Two runs daily.

There is also the train with a taxi to the airport
(should be about $25 for the taxi).
