Does anyone know of reliable sources of information on the current levels
along the Po? I know that several cruises have been cancelled this summer
due to low water levels and although I have been told by Uniworld that "it
is beginning to rain" I see no rain in the satelite images on line other
than perhaps in Russia hardly a good feeder for the Po.

There has been some heavy rain in northern Italy in the past week, for
instance in Milan. I don't know how this has affected the water levels
in the lower Po however.

You could ask here http://www.adbpo.it/indirizzi/informaindex.htm
or there is an english version here
http://www.adbpo.it/inglese/testouk.html
or even at this site http://www.porivertravel.it/v2/eng/a_home.lasso

Very very few rain here in Milan !
The rivers are still low, and the lakes as well. They said that
navigation on lake Como was at danger, and that they were going to close
the sluices (is that the word ? or locks ?) from Lake Garda into
river Mincio.

Now outside is getting cloudy, let's hope for a nice thunderstorm !
We are fed up with this heat !

It's simpler than You think. I live in the Po plain and make frequent
business/holiday trips to the Viterbo area.

Just returned from Lake Garda. There were some restrictions on boats - the
temporary closure of the new landing stage serving Gardaland amusement park
and suspension of vehicle transport on the ships from Riva to Desenzano. The
angle of the gangplanks for pedestrians seemed to indicate low water
generally.
