My wife and I just completed our 15 day cruise aboard the ms Statendam.
It was fantastic!

This was our third cruise and we are planning several others for next
year.

My question is this:

I would like to locate a company that sells models of "Ocean Liners"
and cruise ships, that I can assemble.

I have located several companies that offer models of ships. However,
they are Warships. There are several who do offer models of Ocean Liners
and cruise ships but they are very large scale, and very expensive and
all ready assembled.

Does any one know of such a company?
Thank you for your help.

Hi Dwayne,

Many years ago I bought a model of the QE2. It's about 2.5 feet long. I
got as far as joining the 2 halves of the hull and painting the bottom.
Now it sits on a closet shelf, and even my cruise on the QE2 two years
ago didn't inspire me to continue. I don't suppose I'll ever complete
it.

If you want it, just pay the postage and I'll ship it to you. Most of
the paint jars are unopened, but still they may have dried out. My
email address is symm...@aol.com.

Dwayne,

If you ever find someplace please let me know, been looking for years. With
the exception of QEII, Queen Mary, Titanic, and a few grand old liners no
apparent models for assembly exist. You might find one or two models, more
molded statues, of a few of todays cruise ships. Some model maker is sure
missing out in my opinion. The biggest is REVELL of course has only the
Titanic.

There are models available of some classic liners, ie. Titanic. And as you
pointed out, warships. Cars, planes, airliners, space ships, buildings, etc.
but no modern cruise ships. Seems like a large untapped market, I can imagine
models of this type on sale not only at the local hobbyshop, but on the ships
as well. I think they would prove to be very popular. Ships of the same class
could be packaged with decals to customize the model with the name of your
favorite in the class. What seems like a no-brainer to me continues to go
unanswered in the model industry.

You might also try a company called Authentic Models in Oregon.
Although they do feature reproductions of Sailing Vessels.they often are
looking for new products and they might want to look into making cruise
liners.

I've noted the shortage of ocean liner and cruise ship models myself. Airfix
makes models of some of the old Cunard and White Star Line ships like the
Mauretania, the Queen Mary, and the Queen Elezaabeth. I remember seeing a model
of the Canberra. Revell also makes a model of the SS United States.

These are not the huge kits. The smaller Airfix and the Revell kits aren't much
longer than fourteen to sixteen inches, tops.

In addition, I've seen models of some of the smaller Japanese liners.

I agree with other posters. I do wish someone would put out inexpensive models
of some of the current cruise ship fleet and also some of the liners that
nobody's bothered to do yet--like the Normandie, the Rex, the Isle de France,
and the Liberte.

Really! Now I've been looking for that. Does revell make it?

Got a web address I can hunt for it?

Thanks much

I sent John the telephone number of the local hobby ship in NJ that
"Santa" got the "France" model from. If anyone else is interested in
the number, let me know and I'll send it privately. Don't want to post
it on the Internet, since it's someone else's number.

It's not made by Revell. It's a larger and higher quality model. He
also had models of the QE2 and Canberra, as well as the regulars (Queen
Mary, Titanic, United States, etc.)
