As a very general, all purpose, recommendation, I don't see how you can
go wrong with the Norwegian Sea out of San Juan to the Western
Caribbean. Good food, good entertainment, several interesting port
calls, and lots of places for the physically active. Have a great
Cruise no matter what you choose.....

Hello,
My wife and I plan to take our first cruise this July or August in
the Carribbean. We are completely new to this and have never been in
the Carribbean. We both have high-stress jobs and our first priority is

to have a relaxing week and to see several ports. Do any of you
"seasoned travelers" have any suggestions on which cruise lines/ships to
take, suggestions for people who are new to cruises, ports to see etc?
We are both in our late 40's; I'm a software-engineer and my wife is a
teacher. We are both quite active physically, but we really need some
rest and relaxation. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help,

There's a World of options...

You might want to steer away from the "Funships" but I don't see why you can't
relax on those too..

You might want to try Royal Cairbbean though, great for 1st time cruisers...

Again, there's a whole lot of ships that go to the caribbean.

Acouple of ideas would be Royal Car. Monarch of the Seas...southern
itinerary..but a busy itinerary...or The majesty Western itinerary..the
Enchanment Eastern itinerary...
Carnivals Destiny has 3 days at sea for lots of R & R. with either an Eastern
or Western itinerary.

i would happy to get you a price....just email me hrysk...@aol.com

But not so many in July and August. Forget Princess and Costa, they
pull out in the summer. The other large cruiselines pull a number of
their ships out in the summer, but they do keep a few running the same
itinerary year round. Carnival has the largest number of ships doing
the Caribbean in the summer.

Royal Caribbean's Majesty of the Seas is a great cruise to the Western
Caribbean. It will be VERY HOT in July or August. You can see the
"Cruise Compass" for the cruise at my site.

Excuse me, but isn't this the same thing as advertising? Which we aren't
supposed to do on this ng? Or as long as I don't "advertise"
a particular price for a particular cruise product, is it now okay to
solicit business publicly over the ng?

Just wondering....

My first cruise was on NCL's Norway....3 days at sea was very relaxing
and it is a fabulous ship!

I recommend either the Sun Princess (Western Carib.) or the Dawn Princess
(alternates between two Southern Carib. itineraries).  These are gorgeous
ships, freshwater pools and hot tubs that are open 24 hrs/day, wonderful
food and entertainment, great scuba and snorkel programs, a terrific fitness
center.  Princess is top notch.

Have fun planning.
