Is there a limit to how big luggage can be and still be carried onboard
without having to use redcap for help....does anyone know how big
scanners are at San Pedro pier where we want to carry on our 28" roller
suitcase...

Thanks in advance for your help..

How tall is the bag? In other words, how wide is it when laid flat?
Just went through there last month, the scanners are about the same size
as at an airport. My carryon is 16" wide, laid flat, seemed to be an
inch or two clearance on each side.

I guess my next question is, why bother?

Our goal is to get aboard and upack without waiting for luggage....our
25" suitcase is 16" wide and so is our 19" suitcase so i case there
will be no problem as long as we don't take the biggest
suitcase...thanks for your help...you see we don't fly and are
unfamiliar with scanners at airports...

You may get the 25" thru at an airport but be prepared not to be allowed
it on board. The average allowable rollaboards are usually max at
22x16x9. This varies by airline, check with your specific one. They all
ist the sizes allowed on their web pages.

An easy way to see if your luggage will fit through the scanners is to take
two standard pieces of paper and lay them side by side. Then, place the
suitcase you want to carry in the center of the two sheets of paper. If you
can see white on all sides, the luggage will fit.

What time do you plan to board? Keep in mind, the cabins might not be
ready for occupation yet, when passengers are allowed on board, so you
might have to drag your suitcases around with you, as you enjoy the
buffet, tour the ship, etc.

What's the rush to unpack? Will an hour or two, either way, really make
much of a difference? The less I have to carry, the happier I am. I say
dump the bags with the porters and relax until your bags show up in
your cabin.
