Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines (RCCL) recently changed their name to Royal
Caribbean International (RCI). Same company, different name (and
acronym). I still usually use RCCL.

The firm recently changed its name to Royal Caribbean International or RCI.
RCL is the company's stock symbol. RCCL is how the company was referred
to when it was Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. doing business as Royal
Caribbean Cruise Line.

And let's not forget that RCL was Royal Cruise Line, which was folded
and incorporated into the parent company, Norwegian Cruise Line.

Hi,

I asked somebody from 'whoever the are' (RCI) how they want to be referred
to. I didn't really get an answer that satisfied me or cleared it up.

But, in one of the latest brochures (Caribbean, 1997 - 1999 on the back)
they refer to Royal Caribbean International; and then it says "Royal
Caribbean Cruises Ltd." with the address. In the text they just refer to
Royal Caribbean.

It seems to me that they still use both names.

Dear Juergen ...
For many years, it was Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, RCCL, and as such
it was known and is still the most recognizable abbreviation to us old
timers ...
Recently it changed its name to indicate a more world wide scope of
operations, and is now known as Royal Caribbean International, RCI, and
that is what the company would LIKE us to use ... however it is going to
take some getting used to as old habits die hard.
Most people don't use RCL ... RCCL is much more common.
OK????

The corporation is still called Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines Ltd. (RCCL) The
Cruise line is called Royal Caribbean International (RCI). In affect RCCL is
the parent company of RCI. Since RCI is the only company held by RCCL at
this time the names are intermixed. If RCCL puchases Celebrity it will then
be the holding or parent of Celebrity and RCI.

RCCL was what ROYAL CARIBBEAN CRUISE LINES called theirself, but in APril
( I believe) they started changing thier LOOk and wanted to be known as RCI
ROYAL CARIBBEAN INTERNATIONAL, as they did nto want to be thought out as to
ONLY go to the caribbean that they were everywhere! RCL was the old call
letters for ROyal Cruise Lines, But some people in sake of just not feel
like typing it allout have hit RCL, RCI however is a REGISTERED name of
another company and by law can not be used to identify Royal Caribbean
Cruises, We were told this at a Royal Caribbean seminar.

"Folded" is too nice a word. Murdered is more like it! I sure miss RCL!
