I don't much care for Rosie but she has the breasts to put her money where
her mouth is. She had to guarantee a ton of money to capture this ship.

I don't care for Rosie much myself, but I do give credit where it's due, and
she's done quite a lot of charity work (My problem is that it took her so
long to come out)

I've read that it was a sellout last year, but then I've also read that she
sailed about 75% full. Either way, the prices Kelli and Gregg are charging
should make a profit if they only sailed at 50% lol.

I'd like to see how well the cruise would book if Kelli didn't use Rosie's
name at all in conjunction with the cruise.

I've emailed with both Kelli and Gregg, and I hope they take some of my
advice for next years cruise (if there is another).

The prices are entirely too high. Regardless of who the "talent" is/are. The
itinerary sucks. And there are better ships out there and much more gay
friendly lines available.

And let's face it. The majority of the passengers will be New Yorkers, and
who wants to be stuck on a ship for 7 days with a bunch of whining nasty gay
and lesbian New Yorkers? (note to folks in NY, I'm only kidding about that
part lol)

There have been several successful cruises geared to homosexuals but they
all appeared to have started as a group then a larger group until they
captured a ship. Rosie's name made this the immediate success it was.

I disagree. I've done similar Canada/New England cruises from New York
and it happens to be a wonderful trip in the summer. At sea the air is
crisp and cool giving a much needed break from the New York July 3-H's
- Hazy, Hot and Humid. The ports are interesting and offer lots to see
and do, including terrific beaches in P-town.

Norwegian Dawn is a gorgeous ship - by far she has much more inventive
interiors than, say, Grand Princess or Norwegian Sea (2 ships you've
been aboard). As for being gay friendly, I've found NCL to probably be
one of the more gay friendly cruise lines overall (from a variety of
perspectives - crew, entertainment, policies in general, ship charters
and groups).

As for the fares being a bit high, it's par for the course. Atlantis
and RSVP charge inflated fares too. Fares from New York in general are
usually higher during peak summer season on all sailings. I have no
doubt that NCL is charging Rosie/Kelli a premium for a full ship
charter during one of the busiest cruise months in New York harbor. The
fares reflect this.

That would be my take as well and I believe it has everything to do with
the nationalities of the crew and management.

Les, there is an excellent company in Houston, TX that specializes in gay
cruises. Take a look at http://www.aquafestcruises.com/index.htm I met
the owner (Tom Baker) on the Conquest last October and he runs a class
organization. And... he doesn't gouge the hell out of his customers on
these cruises. The prices are fairly reasonable.

You might want to give them a try.

Hi George,

I can vouch for Tom. I knew Tom when he was our District Sales
Manager for Holland America. Hi is a first-class gentleman.

I actually transferred my December (04) cruise to Aquafest. I only went to
one of the gatherings (I was with a lesbian friend and she was a bit
anti-social but didn't want to be alone) But everyone in the group was
really nice. I ran into several of the guys onboard at various times and
they were always great about saying hi. I kind of wish they'd do another
group the same week this December on the Grand.

I don't think RSVP or Atlantis would be for me, but Pied Piper has some
itineraries and prices that I like. I think I'd prefer a group rather than a
charter. But I could be wrong about my preference.

SHHHH... I recently became a travel agent. I'm not going to go "full time"
until I have more experience with making my own bookings and those for
friends and family. But the company I'm working with (shall remain nameless
for now) has about 15 years experience, so I have some good info sources if
I need them.

Good for you, LES! Put together your own homosexual cruise.

I'd thought about it, but if I decide to go the group route, it'd be
something along the lines of Horror Conventions At Sea, Bookcrossing.com
meetups at sea, etc. There are enough GLBT agencies out there. I'd rather do
something that other people really don't do. More specialized groups. (gay
Christians with children is something Jarrod has suggested).

We were on the Conquest with George and we meet some of the people in
the aquafest group. They were a really nice group and fun to be
around. Had some nice conversations with a few of them. I understand
they had a roll call for that cruise on cruise critics, you might want
to take a look at it. We sailed on 10/31/04.
