What I wonder is how the teen who chatted with
someone on MySpace as able to board a plane by
herself. Certainly the clerk at the airline desk must
have seen from her passport that she was only 16.
Anohter curiosity is that someone from his family
had driven to Tel Aviv to pick her up. Why didn't
they arrange to pick her up in Amman, which is much
closer to Jericho? Amman is 38 miles from Jericho,
while Tel Aviv is 66 miles away, by road. All of
this sounds fishy to me. I think the onward flight
to Tel-Aviv might have been a "decoy", to throw
everyone off. It only makes sense. Why spend
extra time flying to Tel Aviv when they could pick
her up in Amman, which is quite a ways closer to
Jericho? That is why I think the Amman-Tel Aviv
booking could have been to throw everyone off,
so that everyone would be looking for her on the
Tel Aviv flight when she would already be in
Jericho.

Did the guy she was supposed to meet/marry send her the money?

But still, the airline would had to have seen on her
passport that she was only 16. I would think the airline
could get into trouble for letting her board the
flight.

It can be helpful to do some research before your passion speaks.

Hawaiian Airlines designates children from ages 5-14

Northwest: Any child age 5 through 14

American: Passengers under the age of 15

VirginBlue: Any child aged 12 to 15 years (inclusive) may travel as an
Unaccompanied Minor if so requested by the parent

It appears that 16 is quite the age to be if you want to travel with no
questions.

Furthermore, there are plenty of flights from Michigan that do not
involve a break of journey in Amman. It was a very strange way to get
to Tel Aviv!

gads, the airlines don't *even* want to step into that arena of
babysitting teenagers...

What stumps me is why his family told her to fly
to Tel Aviv, when Amman is much closer. Amman
is about 38 miles by road, while Tel Aviv is 66
miles away. You would think they would want
to have picked her up in Amman, where the drive
is much shorter.
