I've been told I cannot carry medical supplies on planes now--hypodermics I
need to stay alive and similar stuff. Ditto laptop computer.

Any way around this?? There is no way these things can be checked--and lost.

Did a friend tell you this? I doubt that an airline told you this.
Carry-ons are still allowed. Even if they are banned, there
will be a large reaction if people cannot carry-on medication.

Now, laptops, that is a different issue entirely. I seriously
doubt if you will die if your laptop is checked. However, the
impact to business travelers - on productivity - could be huge.

Call your airline and ask what kind of documentation (doctor's letter,
prescription, etc) they will need before they will accept life-critical
medical devices. If they refuse to allow you to take hypodermics even with
documentation, find another airline or find a lawyer and consider a
lawsuit.

I'm not aware of any government regulation in North America which bans
laptops. If one airline won't allow laptop carry on, find another airline.

I would love to know which airline is saying you can't carry on medical
supplies and syringes? What are diabetics and others who take shots
supposed to do? Many diabetics are on daily "multiple" injections.
They can't exactly route their insulin injections "around" these
ridiculous airline schedules and connections! And I can tell you
another thing. Many of them sure are NOT going to let those FAs give
them injections! This entire situation with the airlines is going from
the sublime to the "ridiculous" and it's going to cause more serious
problems for the airlines if they try to enforce this.

Actually, a travel agent, citing American policy. One problem is that in fact,
an anti-coag. or insulin kit could indeed kill someone or disable them....

British Airways has a section on their website that outlines such
restructions. They state that passengers need medical papers to prove their
need for the syringes and then they are allowed.

In article <20010926162531...@mb-fh.aol.com>, Fcattus says...

Who told you this, and why would you believe everything you've been told?
