[BW] Hasbro history repeating itself

I just remembered this past Hasbro cartoon incident, and thought
I'd just point out how much it almost coincides with what they are
doing to Beast Wars. :)

It involves Hasbro's other toy line, GI Joe.

Now, everyone should know GI Joe had a cartoon series, in fact, it was
probably a staple cartoon during it's time. Just like TFs.
I don't know who the animation company was who made the cartoons, and I
can only make references to the cartoons I personally own, like "GI Joe:
The Movie", and the pilot mini series, but I'll tell the story none the
less.

GI Joe was a Hasbro owned line of toys that one day got a cartoon series
(among other things.) The cartoon was watched and enjoyed by many fans.
The story editors were doing a great job with stories and character
building, not without Hasbro liberally changing and adding stuff.

It was actually because of Hasbro that some of the aspects of the
cartoon were stupidfied. :)
Cobra-La, Duke not dying, Serpentor, etc.

Anyway, after the movie's ending, the story editors had some great ideas
on what they'd like to continue with. Intricate stories involving "The
World's Most Dangerous Man", and The Coil among other things. Hasbro
had a "different direction" though.

So while GI Joe was in it's prime, Hasbro took it away from the cartoon
studio that made it popular, and sent it to DIC. I don't know if it was
just cheaper or what. Either way, I know it wasn't good. :|

Needless to say, the cartoons (3rd season) were noticeably not as good.
They were actually an eye sore. So, the cartoon series gradually faded
away after that, with the toy line declining after it.
Then, of course, the whole thing went "poof", only to be followed by GI
Joe copy cats that were even worse than the DIC incident.

Why am I saying this? I just find it surprisingly similar to what
they're doing to BW. :)
Taking BW out of their prime, made by the cartoon series, and changing
it. Sure, it's still by Mainframe, but it's still going to be slightly
different.

It's just going to be very very sad if Hasbro repeats themselves with
BW.

Remember, everytime you say Dalmatian,
I'll be hoping that since I'm not the biggest GI Joe fan, that
I got their story right. :)

You're right, Dalmatian. In my view, both the TFG1 line and the GI Joe
line had stupid cartoon shows, but clever comic books. Beast Wars has
so far had a clever cartoon show, but once it gets replaced by BW:G2
(which I don't know anything about and so don't make any judgments
about), perhaps we will see some sort of Beast Wars comic. Not
necessarily by Marvel, but perhaps by some other comic book company.
This comic will, then, depart from the show's continuum and start its
own. If we're lucky.

I won't mind this whole damned BWG2 business if us hardcore fans are given
a comic to conpensate for the lack of decent TV show... However, that seems
very unlikely. :-(
