The Lego web site _had_ a spiffy interactive "Build a Duck" Java applet
that allowed the visitor to assemble a duck from Lego blocks ... and then
removed it.

Is it anywhere on the net ? Did anyone keep a copy of the Java class
files ? Know who wrote it ?

Would you like to see my duck ? :

I've done developed some interactive graphical 3d Java programs myself
(links below) and was planning on creating a you-build-it project along
those lines, though other variants are under consideration ( I've already
done a 2d "Build a Snowman", which you can try ... ).

It was one of my favorite applets on the net because it let me assemble a
3d object (or at least gave me the feeling that I was) on my screen, and
for me, it was an esthetically pleasing activity
and result (someone who can create vivid pictures in his mind, but not with
paint and paper).

Here's some of the stuff I've done :

http://www.frontiernet.net/~imaging/build_a_snowman.html
http://www.frontiernet.net/~imaging/play_a_piano.html
http://www.frontiernet.net/~imaging/train_set.html

Some is completely original, some is highly derivative, some of it is
educational, some are pointers to stuff that I like but had no involvement
with.

A 3d Java program elsewhere on the net that I like:

"A 'Liqua Logo'; A Little Java House."

( A house is built from blocks, brick by brick, can't tell if they're
plastic or not. )

I'd like to see a version where you can build it as you would a build a
sand castle ... you leave mouse droppings and they fall neatly into place,
Lego construction ... without all the work ...

Sincerely,
