Hi Group,

I'd like to hear from Malibu owners about your satisfaction with the
brand. If you happen to own a 23 foot Wakesetter, which I'm thinking of
purchasing, more the better. Now, I don't want to start a "ford vs.
chevy" debate. If you don't own a malibu because you have a problem
with them, fine, I'd like to know why. I see a lot of CC vs. Malibu
spamming, and I don't want to start it up here (or mastercraft, moomba,
etc.). If you own a different brand than Malibu, and want to tell me
that I'm making a mistake, I'd appreciate hearing from you also.

I'm interested in:
Quality
Service
problems/defects/shortcomings
use as a wakeboard and waterski boat
power (what engine do you have?-wish you had)
storage
comfort
needle guages versus new MSCAN digital readout guage (a 2001 option?)
Titan collapsible tower
Any options you wish you had/shouldn't have bought/can't live without?
How do you like the Wedge for wakes.

I'm thinking I want:
hammerhead engine
wedge
heater
heated shower
bimini top

Not too sure about docking lights or boat cover (it has it's own garage)

Thanks in advance for your input.

I own a Sunsetter.

> Quality

IMHO quality is excellent. Compare finish & detail to other makes you will
see.

> Service

Depends on local dealer mine has been second to none but my Dealer wins many
awards from Malibu every year for service & satisfaction.

> problems/defects/shortcomings

No brand is free from problems. I have had none but that is not to say
everyone has seen the same level of satisfaction.

> use as a wakeboard and waterski boat

This is where I believe Malibus really shine. With the exception of the
Sportster all are good. When you get into the V-drives you are going to give
up a little waterski performance but you gain many times over Wakeboarding
performance. Sunsetter & Sunsetter LXI are excellent crossover boats.

> power (what engine do you have?-wish you had)

Vortec 310-----Monsoon

> storage

IMHO only rivaled by some of the larger Tige's. The 21 foot Malibus have a
tremendous amount of stoarge.

> comfort

Persoanl prefrence I would not have bought one if I did not like it.

> needle guages versus new MSCAN digital readout guage (a 2001 option?)

I always prefer Analog to digital and that was not an option when I bought
mine. But I would love the GPS feature.

> Titan collapsible tower

Love the looks of it and have heard rave reviews from local dealer and his
riders. Very stiff pull with NO rattles. Also gives unobstructed view for
driver while underway.

> Any options you wish you had/shouldn't have bought/can't live without?

Wish I had bought-Tower but I may get one this year. Should not have
bought----Clock wasted money, Factory stereo-for the money they charge you
can get twice as much from a Stereo dealer. Can't livewithout---depth finder
& Bimini

> How do you like the Wedge for wakes.

I love it but if you intend to use the wedge I strongly suggest the MLS. It
takes out almost all of the extreme steepness and makes a very nice lip with
nice ramp to go along with the height created by the wedge.

The cover was included in my deal. But if you ever consider traveling a
cover is nice to have for those suprise rain storms while camping.

I own a 98 Sunsetter LX which is similar to the Wakesetter. I love my boat.
I have had some problems with it though. First thing was when I bought the
boat the stereo would not work. JVC replace it. The boat had several
scratches on it. I don't know if they came from the factory or the dealers
mishandling it. Malibu repaired it free of charge. The gel coat had
developed spider cracks around the swim platform bolt holes from stress and
movement. Malibu repaired them, but two have came back. I am not going to
worry about them again after finding out this is a problem with some
Malibu's. It is not as quiet a boat as my Mastercraft was, but I can live
with this. It skies great, barefoots great and has a great wakeboard wake
with the wedge down. The interior is holding up super and I have no plans on
trading it for some time.
I think it has its pluses and minus's just like any other brand. But for my
needs it fits perfectly. I would probably buy another, except it would be a
Sunsetter LXi next time due to the rear storage compartment.

Hope this helps you make your mind up.

Yes you are right! With the Sportster you get excellent Slalom wakes along
with great barefooting performance but the wake boarding wakes are subpar
when compared to the larger Malibus. To be honest I have only been behind
one and that was barefooting so yes I am going off what I have been told.

No mistake! I have a 2000 WS Escape. Royal blue with grey. Gorgeous boat!
Unfortunately I only have 75hrs. on my boat so take my opinion for what it's
worth.

> I'm interested in:
> Quality

Pretty good, until I saw the interior panel bolts from the inside of storage
compartments that the extra length was shear'd off instead of using the
correct length bolt. Maybe there was an installation reasoning for this?
There are no gelcoat cracks.

> Service
Excellent, replaced center bow cushion unseen that had a couple corners
beginning to tear.

> problems/defects/shortcomings
Some very small things that aren't an issue if your halfway mechanically
onclined.

> use as a wakeboard and waterski boat

I'm a hydrofoiler, the slalom skiers swear there is a double bump when
crossing each wake. I don't know, I haven't skied behind it yet.

> power (what engine do you have?-wish you had)

Get the upgraded 165hp (I think) hammerhead. This is a big boat.

> storage
Tons! That's a big reason I went with it. I believe they made the most
efficient use of space among all the v-drives. I love the three lid sun deck
in the back. The storage lights are pretty cool at night also!:)

> comfort
Very comfortable. Cushy seats. We've spent a couple nights in it. Has a bow
you can truely stretch out in. Never have friends that have to sit on the
floor.

> needle guages versus new MSCAN digital readout guage (a 2001 option?)

I like needle guages.

> Titan collapsible tower
I went with a Dolfun tower. Had to make an extended pylon on top so the rope
would clear the built in board racks when doing "around the boats".
(Hydrofoil maneuver)

> Any options you wish you had/shouldn't have bought/can't live without?

If you like tunes, get the upgraded stereo or skip it and buy your own
system cheaper.

> How do you like the Wedge for wakes.

It's OK especially for quick adjustments. Again, I said it's a big boat, it
takes a lot more weight to get the biggest wake. It could handle another
1500-2000lbs. ballast easy. A boat load of people always helps too.

> I'm thinking I want:
> hammerhead engine

I think you do too!

> wedge
Yup, with MLS to round it off a bit

> heater
A pretty decent 3 port

> heated shower
What a luxury. Never thought I'd use mine as much as I do.

> bimini top
My Dolfun tower integrates one of the largest biminis I found. Makes a big
difference in your day in the sun.

>
> Not too sure about docking lights or boat cover (it has it's own garage)

Don't have the docking lights but plan on tower lights sometime. I have a
very sharp, tight fitting cover that looks great and keeps the dirt out
while towing. Bow cover is nice too for cooler days but the boat also comes
with the plexiglass wind screen.

I own a 1997 Response and had a Wedge put on last year. I love the boat! I
foot, slalom, trick ski and wake board. I don't
think you could go wrong with yur choice!

You can argue but I believe it's as good as MC and SN.

It's hard to beat for what I want.

Terrific wake with the wedge. It's not quite what the V Drives get but a
good comprimise.

> power (what engine do you have?-wish you had)

Standard monsoon. It's all I need. You will want more on the larger boat,
full of people.

You can always use more

Excellent

I've got to get a Bimini Top!

> How do you like the Wedge for wakes.

Excellent! It does however depend on the boat. It makes a huge difference on
the Response, but it
appears to make little difference on my friends Escape. Only detraction is
that when the Wedge is
down it it affects slow speed turning ability. Make sure you try this when
you demo the boat. You
get used to it, but it can be a pain. Haven't driven a boat loaded up with
fat sack's the same may
happen to them.

Is the wedge available for this boat? To my knowledge it is not.
Malibu web site shows it N/A on Wakesetter

I ordered the new VLX which just came in this week. I currently own a 97 VLX
which is sold but I still have it until the new owner picks it up next month.
Quality-The 97 has been excellent. I purchased the boat in Utah and the dealer
there was good also. I moved to NC and the Malibu dealer here then was
horrible. New dealer now and he seems good. I looked over my new boat for an
hour the other day. I saw no obvious major flaws. They use longer screws on
trim then needed in a few places. The MLS system plumbing worries me just a
little since the way it is plumbed could cause a big problem if the hose comes
off the through hull fitting or cracks. There may not be a way to avoid this
however. It should have been double clamped and I will do that.

Engine- If you are getting the LSV I recommend the Hammerhead. The LS-1 has too
many problems and the Monsoon is not enough power for that boat. To get a
slalom pull out I like the engine has to be floored with the monsoon. Malibu
also recommended the Hammerhead in the V-drives. They said with the gear
reduction it comes into its own. The hammerhead now sold is totally different
from the Callaway version a few years back that had problems.

Gauges- I want to see the oil pressure and water temp gauges all the time so
MSCAN was not an option for me. I have heard there have been computer problems
also.

Options- 3 outlet heater and shower. You will wonder how you ever did without
them.

Radio- delete it and have your own put in. Every Malibu comes fully wired for
Stereo so it is a snap. Their stereo is way overpriced. Have the holes drilled
by the factory for the front speakers however. If you don't the windshield has
to come off to drill the holes.

Titan tower. I think it is the best option out there. It is very unobtrusive
when in the boat and rock solid. You can also take the Allen wrench supplied
and take it off the boat completely in 5 minutes.

If you have any other questions feel free to email at CP7...@cs.com

You get about 2,000 to 2,500 lbs. in the boat and it is worse than with the
wedge. The boat at idle speeds absolutely will not turn in any kind of tight
space. While underway at boarding speeds it is bad also but comparative to
the wedge.

I have the MLS and I had one problem that I will let you know about. Mine is
an inboard so it may be a little different from yours. My intake pump (rule
750 or 800 GPH) broke at the outlet tube I also think I caused this by over
tightening the clamp when I had to add a valve (yeah I got one of the first
MLS systems that did not have valves yet). Luckily for me it was in my
garage at the time and just enough of the neck was left to attach the hose
to until the new one came from my dealer. I am not sure if the neck on yours
will be longer but mine isn't long enough to double clamp. I am also adding
straps myself to attach the hoses to the inside of the skilocker-probably
not necessary but if I do not remove that sack every time I am out the hoses
get pretty slimy and I will stop this by attaching the hoses to the side of
the ski locker. Also after you put yours in the water & fill the MLS let me
know if it leaks and if it doesn't tell me how they fixed this short of
using silicone to permanently attach the hoses to the sack. I understand
that water is going to get in the bilge & not much leaks out of the sack but
my bag was pretty filthy when I removed it for storage & would love to cut
down on the amount of water that gets in.

Thanks for the info on the MLS. I really don't know much about it. I will check
the items you mentioned. I did not know you can take it out also. I will have
to take the cover off and take a closer look when I get delivery. I think the
dealer was a little nervous when I started to take the boat apart and I have
not yet paid him for it. George

The number one thing you should look at in buying
a new boat is the local dealer. I like my Malibu
dealer...but I only buy used boats. I like my
first Malibu so much I bought another
(Flightcraft). I felt guilty until I realized
that I have less into my two boats than what you
are about to spend on one.

Mine is an open bow echelon. We use a 97
response a lot and the efi seems to easy out the
gas a little, but of course, with the bigger
engines (monsoon) it is a trade off anyway.

I would definately get the bigger power plant if
anyone is a barefooter in the neighborhood.

I won't own a boat without a fly-high or
equivalent and a boom, but we do a lot of footing
and wakeboarding.

Most important of all....a bimini.

As to the tower, consider the joy of taking it
up/down every time you garage/store it on a lift
with a canopy if that is an issue. Of course you
up and down the fly high a lot too.

Your best bet is to get one out on the water and
drive it/ski it/foot it, etc. Our local dealer
here in Michigan ( http://www.edgeski.com )
allows on the water tests (as does the local MC
dealer).

What I really love on the newer Malibus (which is
the one thing that may make me "upgrade") is the
handling. A baby can drive em under full or
partial power with the new steering that started
in 1997 I believe.

We have a 2000 Wakesetter Escape on which we logged 190 hours last year,
mostly boarding.

> Quality

Looks good and is good. The fit and finish is good - when you look under
things, all of the wires are neatly run and the fiberglass isn't ratty.
We keep it in the water for months at a time and have had no problems
with blisters in the hull. Almost everything works well. We like the 3
piece engine lid a lot. There are, of course, nits to pick - see below.
> Service
My feeling is that this varies from dealer to dealer. Ours has a very
helpful person in charge but there can be long waits for appointments.
> problems/defects/shortcomings
Here's the list: a total of about six inches in tears in seams in the
upholstery, something leaks a little around the MLS, at the end of last
year, the MLS started filling without turning on the pump ( there is a
factory fix for this involving the installation of a new valve), the
tach jumped around a lot (supposedly a factory directed fix has been
made, we'll see on our next outing), the shower can dribble in certain
circumstances when you think it is off (hmmm, not an unfamiliar problem
to males), the builtin icechests under the front seats have no
insulation so ice melts quickly, the side cleat is located too far back
from the bow - tied up, the bow will swing out in a current, the stereo
location under the armrest to the right of the driver makes it hard to
fiddle with while under way - you need one hand to holdup the armrest
and the other to change the CD or volume or whatever - what do you steer
with and how can the passengers reach over there, the windshield is too
low or angled too low - the wind is generally in the hair of the driver,
the shock tube that holds up the engine lid isn't powerful enough, the
battery is set forward at least 6 inches from the back of the
compartment - wastes space, when absolutely full, the gas tank can
expand on a hot day, raising the floor, the label on one of the
dashboard controls fell off

> use as a wakeboard and waterski boat

We love it as a wakeboard boat. The skylon tower that came from the
factory last year did not fold which isn't a problem for us and made it
rock solid. The pylon and tower rope fastening spindles swivel. There
are tons of cockpit space for changing riders. The wake is large and
becomes larger and a little steeper and lippier (which I like) with
additional weight. We added 480 pounds of sand at the end of last year
and I would like to add more next year. It does not turn on a dime,
especially with the wedge down. It holds speed well and tracks well.
You have to pay attention to crossing wakes when turning to pick up a
rider to avoid taking water over the bow, but I think it does better on
this then some comp boats. The MLS works really well and we use it
every time.
I am not much of a skier but watching a couple of good skiers behind our
boat, I think they found the wake larger than they preferred. If pure
skiing is your thing, I don't think you should get a V drive or this
boat. But for recreational purposes, its fine.

> power (what engine do you have?-wish you had)

Monsoon - it's fine for us in all respects. Max speed is around 45.
Most of our riders want a slow pickup because they want the huge wake
you get as you come up to speed, so they can get good air coming outside
the wake for the first time. Thus we are never close to full throttle
on the pickup.
> storage
A big selling point for us - lots and lots of space. The stern
compartments are big enough that we are scratching our heads to come up
with an organizer. I'm thinking of building some kind of rack so the
vests and wetsuits can drip dry back there between runs. We love being
able to tell people they can have the whole space under various seats so
they can get at their stuff without having to paw through other people's
things.
> comfort
The upholstery is very comfortable, the seats designed very well for
comfort, the driver controls and seat are well designed. We like the
table that mounts in the middle of the floor for the cocktail cruises,
the plexiglass windscreen works easily and well. You will be thrilled
with the courtesy and storage lights - they are everywhere and when you
turn them on, the boat looks really inviting at night.

> needle guages versus new MSCAN digital readout guage (a 2001 option?)

We have the needle gauges, haven't used the other.
> Titan collapsible tower
We have the old style tower and we're jiggy with it. By the way, we
carry a small inverter and a small string of little christmas lights
with us. It's fun to string them up over the tower when we're cruising
around the marinas. Yeah its cheesy but we're having fun and it makes
people smile.

> Any options you wish you had/shouldn't have bought/can't live without?

The heater is absolutely a hit. Buy a big, artificial fiber blanket
that can get wet, tell the passengers to get together and under it and
run the snorkle under the blanket at their feet. They'll never shiver
again. We use the hot shower less often but it feels great to fill up
the wetsuit with hot water before jumping in. The depth finder is a
necessity as far as I'm concerned. We didn't get the temp gauge and
sometimes wish we knew what the water temp is. We got the six speaker
stereo and like it although I accept that for the cost, you could
probably have a better one put in.

> How do you like the Wedge for wakes.

I like it. I accept that adding 1500 pounds of weight might get me a
little better shape. But the shape and size with the wedge cause the
people we ride with to be very happy to use our boat, even when there
are boat choices. And I wouldn't like driving around before and after
boarding with that much weight and being able to lower and raise the
wedge whenever we want to board is worth the convenience and eliminates
the weight hassles. Raising and lowering the wedge literally takes five
seconds.

By the way, our choices were not automatic on the MLS stereo, wedge,
shower and heater - we struggled with the same questions you are
thinking about. Now, having used them, we have no doubts at all about
the value and utility of all of these features.

> Not too sure about docking lights or boat cover (it has it's own
garage)

I wonder whether we should have gotten the docking lights - we've had to
search for a mooring buoy and our dock has no lights. But as others
have stated, I think some kind of removable and swiveling light on the
tower could handle this better.

You will burn gas with the bigger boat and using the wedge or weight.
We typically go through 10-12 gallons in a 3 hour outing with four
people.

Every boat is a compromise and I've gotten pickier over the years. If I
could design a boat, I'd do a few things differently. But if our Escape
sunk, we'd probably buy another one with the insurance money. Email me
if you have more questions.

Good choice Robert, I own a 98 Sunsetter with a platium package, which
pretty much covers everything you are wanting in accesseries. Im sure there
have been some changes in the packages so check to see which one is best for
you. As fo a bimini I would recomend a aftermarket such a Taylor, they are
much better than a factory and can be color matched to almost any boat
color. I mostly use mine for kneeboarding and barefooting and with the wedge
and a few Fat Sac's it creates a incredible wake. As for gauging, to me it
would be owners preference. I would recomend a MPFI engine at the least, for
the extra cost compared to a carb or TB, it is worth it. The towers are
nice and would definitly recomend it, and since you are going to garage keep
your boat a colapsable is a definite. I wish mine was. I have not had any
major problems and for service I dont know, I havent had to take it back to
the dealer for anything, so I guess that speaks for itself. One note about
your comments about spamming, I agree with you totally. It is not the boat
that makes the skier, my skiing friends have MC, CC, Malibus and even
runabouts and floatboats. If your are like me it doesnt matter its all in
having fun and then being serious. Good luck in your decision.

I have an 2000 LXI and here are my comments.

>Quality

Love the interior fit and finish. Very comfortable. Interior still
looks showroom after a year of very heavy use. I really enjoy the
interior lighting. Gelcoat is free of defects.

>Performance

Excellent. Monsoon has been a great motor so far. Handling is great
except when the wedge is down.

>Service

Depends on the dealer

>Problems

The accuracy of the fuel gauge which was a recall related to the length
of the fuel arm installed.

KM gauges (tach and speedo) failed twice on mine. Once related to a
computer chip and second due to too much paint on the distributor
ground. They now work fine.

MLS leaked and occasionally filled on its own. That was also a recall
item which was promptly fixed. No more problems.

Overall, nuissance problems which were fixed easily with little effort.

All of the items above happened within the first 50 hours on the boat,
I have 75 on it since the fixes and no problems at all.

I agree that stereo placement is not convenient but you get used to it.
I used to have problems with the arm rest covering the stereo not
staying open during stereo adjustment and I simply tightened the screws
on the hinge and it stays up.

Wedge is a significant wake enhancer but definately add the MLS. You
will notice the wedge creates alot of turbulence in the center of the
wakes but it is only noticable if you are cruising directly behind the
boat.

Boat has tons of storage.

I have a Boss tower which collapses easily. I hear the Titan towers are
a good choice but you have to like the look.

Hope that helps.

Ditto comments below. I recently purchased a 2001 Sunsetter LXI. Zero
hours to date... Quality on delivery is top notch. Long list of extras.
Monsoon 325hp, Heater, Shower, Depth finder, Temp gauge, Perfect Pass speed
control, Wedge, Titan Tower, 1 Jump seat 4 blade OJ prop.

Did not order the MLS. did not want to lose my ski locker storage. Demo
with wedge led me to believe the wedge was enough for me and my family. No
MSCAN. Not sure I want an all in one computer the 1st year out from KM 2nd
time around. Anyone who has an Echelon with the all in one system can
elaborate. Friend of mine never had his working right. He sold the boat
without it. I will wait and see....

I ordered the (4) infinity marine speakers only. (Told you still have to
pull windshield to install the speakers in the cut outs) I put in an
aftermarket Sony XPlod cd\receiver player with 400 watt amp & 10 disc
changer for about 50% less than JVC system. Boat came prewired for the
stereo. Amp wiring was needed but very easy to do.

Possible "fix" to the stereo access problem? A wireless IR remote comes
with the Sony. It works even with the lid down. The IR pickup is low
enough on the unit that I can sit in the seat use either hand to point it
toward the stereo to make changes. A passenger can sit in the observer seat
and make changes as well.

Just a few more thoughts,

Bill

Along the lines of stereo problems, another solution for Sony's and other

functions of the headunit, and makes it very easy to change settings.

You can actually get the speakers in without pulling the windshield depending
on the model. I am interested in the IR remote. I am also putting a Sony ES in
my VLX. I am going to put the Mini Disk unit in with a CD changer. I have
struggled with the remote issue. The stereo dealer said for 75 dollars he can
remote the IR eye on the unit and install it in the dash so it will work
anywhere in the boat. Another option is a hard wired remote sony offers that
plugs right into the unit. They make a car and a marine unit. The marine unit
is about a 4 x 2 oval and I can't find a good spot to mount it. It sounds like
I might be able to just stick with the factory IR unit if it will work anyway.
The stereo guy is supposed to fax me a proposel today. George

I own a '95 Echelon LX which has always been boatel kept. The boat still
looks new and the only prob so far was the raw water impellar came apart,
but it hadn't been replaced every year like recommended. The boat is
awesome, no gel cracks, great interior and the wedge throws a wake that
anyone should be able to invert from. If Malibu has maintained its quality
since back then, I don't see how you could go wrong getting the Wakesetter
for boarding.

It has been rock solid in cars and trucks.

The LS1 was a new engine last year. Once it was place on the market it began to
have problems. 85 engines were sold last year and 19 of them had to be
replaced. Under sustained high loads in a boat it developed detonation
problems. The engines that had to be replaced were mostly in the bigger boats
but some were in responses. Indmar removed the engine from the market last
Spring. They worked on it and made some hardware and calibration changes. It
was reintroduced in Nov. They sent one engine to a ski school to get hours as
fast as possible on the engine. No word on how it is doing. I wanted the engine
because of its light weight but after talking to indmar they recomended I not
put the engine in a V-drive heavier boat until they get more data on the new
changes. An engines use in a boat is so different then a car that it is
impossible to draw a comparison. At 70 MPH in a car an LS-1 is probably putting
out 55 to 70 HP. In a boat at 36 MPH you are asking the engine to sustain over
200 hp. The LSI apparently had a heat buildup under that kind of load which led
to detonation. The above information came from Indmar and Malibu reps. They
were very candid and honest about the problems with the engine.

A far as the Hammerhead the current hammerhead on the market is a completely
different engine from the one first introduced. The first engine was a Callaway
engine. There were numerous problems with that engine. The new engine is built
by Indmar and has nothing in common with the old engine except the name. The
Malibu rep I spoke to said he wished they had changed the name when they
introduced the new engine because there has been confusion. It has had
outstanding reliability so far. Warranty claims are running the same as the
monsoon which has been outstanding.

Maybe you can authenticate this. I understood the LS1 was running too lean. I also
understood that after their adjustments that some of the HP went away too.

Once I ordered my new boat I did not pay a lot of attention to the LS1 and have
not talked to anyone about it. The response in WaterSki mags test edition had
the LS1 with the new calibration and the numbers looked the same as the year
before. I did notice as a general rule most boats tested this year had slower
acceleration results then last year so it looks like it has not lost any power.
Just for info the Malibu VLX tested in the issue that appears to outrun every
other V-drive tested I am 90% sure had the Hammerhead and not the monsoon as
listed. Either the RPM max of 5500 is in error it is not a monsoon. Malibu told
me there would be at least one and probably two hammerheads in the test. If it
is actually a monsoon then I suspect I am going to be really happy when I drive
my new boat with a hammerhead. Malibu is probably happy with the error. People
will read it and think the VLX blows everything else away in acceleration with
only 325HP when it really was the 365hp engine. George

Tom, I did talk to someone on the staff. The test had been completed several
months before. He stated he thought they had 2 hammerheads there. If you look
at the numbers it appears both the VLX and the LSV were tested with
hammerheads. The RPM is a giveaway since the Monsoon is rev limited at 5100.
You can also check the wakesetter versions of each boat that appear to really
have monsoons. RPMS and accel and top speed are lower on both. There were a lot
of other errors in the issue. Waterski magazine needs to hire an new editor and
start paying attention to details. George

Good Wakeboard Boat compared to what? A 20ft I/0 Yes it is more than ample.
Compared to some of Malibu's and the other MFG.'s larger boats. No-Not in
the same league. You can make an excellent wake with almost any of the
inboards but for the smaller ones it takes a tremendous amount of ballast to
even get in the same league with the 21 footers. The 21ft. offerings seem to
be the most preferred. When you get into the 23 footers they put out great
wakes with not as much ballast but the wakes are REALLY wide and harder to
get used to. Don't think your wake is not enough. Their are plenty of
riders around here that GO OFF behind O/B bayliners and the like. Ride with
what you have and work with ballast and placement of ballast until you
arrive at your best wake. I was not bashing the smaller boats but the
original post ask for opinions on the Wakesetter LSV and comparisons to
other boats.
