HEy group - Thanks Greatly for the feedback bout used Brendella (92);
my experience when I test drove the boat was that the wake WAS a bit
large for a ski boat - even tho we WERE boarding behind it at about 20
mph.

My desire is to obtain a 6 to 8 year old SKI towboat - so I can have a
delightful FLAT wake for skiing - & we can weight it IF we REALLY want
to keep boarding in couple of years.

Now - since Mike Bredel designed the Brendella - & is the top guy with
MB Sports - HOW much different would an MB ownership experience be?

Thanks in advance for all of your guidance and sharing of your
experiences.

I don't think judging a wake at 20 mph will tell you much about the wake at
slalom speeds. Any inboard ski boat has a good sized wake at 20. As for the MB
Sports boats, very, very solid, well built, PCM power, good warrantee, nice
soft wakes above 30, some rooster tail at 22 off, some spray at shorter line
lengths. Observations based on 96 Boss 200 5.8 Pro Boss, 1:1, 13x13 OJ 4 Blade

Ditto. They can be hard to find (they're quite popular). MC (just
restating the obvious) means MasterCraft.

My 1981 Supreme has a wood floor and stringer system. The floor and
stringers on my boat are original and over the 8 years I have owned this
boat they haven't degraded. I do keep the boat dry and trailer it home.
So usually it has a good drive home to help dry it out and then I store
it under a roof and cover. I have replaced the wood flooring in the
removable section behind the engine with two pieces of resin impregnated
plywood that are screwed together and glassed on the outside.

This boat is not built like a new all fiberglass boat. I does happen to
be a very good example of what Ski Supreme could build. I'd be lying if
I said Ski Supreme had the reputation of CC or MC.

I can say that mechanically it is in excellent shape and the engine runs
better then many in boats I have seen that were just 5-10 years old. I
don't know if the synthetic oil helped, but a few years ago I had the
coupler, drive shaft and prop replaced as well as the strut bearings and
it is very smooth and vibration free and has excellent accelleration.
Since I added the 4-blade prop I have actually have people asking me not
to throttle them so hard.
I also just replaced the battery, impeller houseing, impeller, fuel
filter and changed the transmission fluid. The throttle and steering
cables have also been replaced recently. The new trailer tires have maybe
2,000 miles on them. It has a 240Hp PCM 351 with 1:1 velvet drive
transmision, which is what you will find in most boats of that age.

don't think twice bout restatements - I was on the water a LOT in the
early to mid 70's - then off till this year - a LOT of boat models &
designs have come & go.

What about the Supreme - I just responded to another guys post about
an 81 Supreme - will this boat be as full of wood as ALL of 'em
pretty much were in the era?

Thanks Again,

Even the Mastercrafts of that era (which don't have wood, btw) can have
stringer problems. I wouldn't buy a boat from that era without test
driving it and then driving over some of it's own wakes. It should feel
and sound solid.

Rotten wood sounds hollow. Solid wood (or fiberglass) sounds, well,
solid. It's hard to explain unless you've had a bout with wood rot or
um, ... helpful insects (e.g., termites, carpenter ants). Bring a
hammer and tap the hull (lightly) inside and out. Listen for hollow
sounds. Bad sounds.
