I live on a small lake in central Florida and am planning to build a boat
house with a lift myself. I know of a good dock supply yard and I have the
resources to construct it, what I dont have are any good plans. I have started
a layout in AutoCAD based upon other designs I have seen, however I would like
to not have to reinvent the wheel if there are plans readily available. In
addition I need to get an engineering certification before pulling a county
permit and I want to insure I build a strong and safe structure. If anyone
knows of any good sources for plans or reference materials on design elements
with regard to Boathouses I would appreciate the help.
I have an idea in mind of a lift with a deck on top. But I am not sure
whether to tongue and groove the decking or leave it open and put a roof
underneath. I also have questions about the best way of attaching joists and
stringers to the uprights. I feel confident I can layout the plans and build
them as necessary, but I feel existing plans might give me some good ideas I
can use in my own project.
I appreciate any info or experiences you might be able to send my way. A
search of the web and of my local library has been fruitless so far.
Thanks,
Mike Rentnelli
