Have you considered the new PSR. It is a softer VTR that can be
stiffened variably with the PowerStix adjustable carbon-fiber rods. It
should come around the turn faster than the VTR if you do not tighten the
tail rods too much. This months WaterSki has an article on the PSX which
is the similar version of the VTX. Results were variable as to opinion
on the effect of the PowerStix. However, just the softer tail should
make a difference over the V versions. Greg C.

My old HO turbo is finally desintegrating. I tried the VTX and didnt make any buoys. So i tried the VTR and liked it. Somebody told me that there was no difference between the VTR and the VTC. Can you tell me if i should try the VTC anyway ?
I run the course at 34. My major problem is that i force the ski around the buoys, pushing the tail of the ski around. Maybe a suitable ski would force me to ski the right way.

try the O'Brien G3 Revenge or G2 Weapon. my son (nationally ranked) was
on a VTX. he demoed the VTR and the G3. the G3 blew the VTR away!

Did your son demo the VTR just one time or spend a few days to adjust to
it? My son jumped from 4 @ 15off, 34mph to 1.5 @ 28 off 34mph after
switching from VTX to VTR. (Class C Tournaments) His closest rival
skied his Jobe to 3 at 15 off and switched to a VTR and in 3 weeks bumped
up to 3 at 22 off. I think this ski requires a week or two and then the
potential comes out. That narrow tail changes some things about that ski
in the turn at first which takes a little getting used to. My son is
going to give the PSR and PSX a try this year as they are softer and
should turn quicker which will help at short line. He only weighs 105 so
it is tough for him to make the 65" VTR flex enough in the turn and get
the angle he desires at short line. Up through 22 off it works great but
at 28 off he can't get past 3 ball in practice and he has to stand on the
front in the turn to do that. The full size skiers at our lake run the
VTR deep into 38 off (34mph) on a regular basis. It seems to work well
for all of them. Greg C.

I can echo Greg C.'s comments. I couldn't find a place to demo a
VTR and bought it on reputation. I hated it out of the box (I
had been riding a Connelly Revolution) but forced myself to keep
using it for awhile since I had laid out all that jack on it. I
started to click on my 3rd or 4th outing and fell in love with
it. I've never met anybody who can get all the potential out a
ski in a couple passes. The bottom line for me was this: The
VTR forced me to become a better skiier; now I swear by it.
