Has anyone had any experience of using HO's new PowerStix system?

I recently starting running the course (at 26mph) and I am considering
upgrading my existing ski (Kidder Impact) to the 1996 HO VTC , which I
believe can take a PowerStix. Hopefully this will give me a good
intermediate/advanced ski that can "grow" with me as I improve.

If the VTX, VTM, VTC and VTR skis can all have powerstixs fitted,
why does HO introduce the PSX and PSR skis? What is the difference
between a PSX (or PSR) and a VTX (or VTR) with a powerstix fitted?

Thanks in advance,

Danny

PSX is softer than VTX, to make it more versatile. In theory, you can
crank up the powerstix and make them the same. Same for PSR/VTR.

I am currently using the PSR and LOVE IT! The sticks really seem to work.
The allow the ski to bend and will return to the ski to it original shape
faster. Not only that, the really do seem to provide some dampning across
the wakes.

The difference between PSR and VTR is the PSR is made softer than the VTR
from the start. If you do use STIX though, I would caution you against
tightening them to much, as I believe you want to keep the ski soft.

You can also look at HO's web site and read more about them.

I recently bought the PSX and I am very pleased with it. I ran
32off on it on my 4th time out on it. I'm not yet convinced that
the power stix really do anything, but I know that other skiers
swear by them. If you are just starting to run the course at 26
mph, I'm not sure if you would really notice a difference
withtthe power stix. You'd probably wnat to demo the ski before
you buy it.

I had a VTC about two seasons ago, then bought a VTX and used it for the
past two seasons. The VTX may be a high-end slalom, but you can still
learn on it without bad side effects. I have taught people to ski the
course with it and even taught them to ski (first time) on it. The point
is: if you are going to spend the money on a VTC, then you might as well
buy the VTX (i think the price is fairly close). The VTX will take you
much further than the VTC.
