Chill’s Ruetten Named
USPV General Manager Of The Year
OAKBROOK TERRACE, ILL., May 20, 2002_ Minnesota Chill general manager
Kevin Ruetten has been named United States Professional Volleyball
(USPV) General Manager Of The Year.
Ruetten, whose team won both the USPV Championship and the regular
season championships, turned in the league’s most consistent box
office numbers throughout the season.
Minnesota, playing in the 2,400 seat Mayo Civic Center Auditorium,
averaged 1,880 fans during the regular season. The Chill topped the
2,000 barrier on four different occasions, tying Grand Rapids for the
league lead in that category.
The Chill also tied for the league lead in sellouts with two. The team
sold out its final two regular season home matches.
Over the last third of the regular season, Minnesota led the league in
attendance with an average of 2,285 fans per contest. The Chill also
had a league-best six crowds of 1,700 fans or better.
Ruetten, who was the first local team employee hired by the league,
also was responsible for securing a local cable television deal and a
local radio station broadcasting deal for the team.
Minnesota had four home matches televised by area based Chatsfield
Community Television and also had a home match broadcast by local
radio station KWEB-AM.
Grand Rapids Force general manager Greg Rogers finished second in the
voting.
