#Asics/VOLLEYBALL Magazine announces All-American teams;
players of the year#
--------------------------------------------------------

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif.--(BW SportsWire)--May 14, 1996--Yuval
Katz, a 22-year-old sophomore opposite from Israel, is the Asics/
VOLLEYBALL Magazine men's college Player of the Year.

Katz led Hawai'i to a No. 1 ranking for most of the season and a
second-place finish at the four-team NCAA Tournament at UCLA. Katz,
who led the country in kills per game (7.7), had 47 kills in a five-
game loss to UCLA in the national championship match. He was named
the NCAA Tournament MVP.

California-San Diego's Tom Black was named the Small College
Player of the Year after leading NCAA Division III in kills per game
while competing in the 14-team Mountain Pacific Sports Federation,
which includes UCLA, Hawai'i, California-Santa Barbara, Stanford and
seven other NCAA Division I teams.

Ryan Millar of Brigham Young is the Freshman of the Year after
leading the nation in blocking.
