USPV Stars Making An Impact For U.S. Women’s National Team
OAKBROOK TERRACE, ILL., May 21, 2002_ United States Professional
Volleyball (USPV) stars Wiz Bachman, Nicole Branagh, Addie Mahnken and
Kristee Porter have been big contributors for the United States
Women’s National Team, currently touring in Japan.
Bachman, a middle blocker and one of three 2002 USPV Champion
Minnesota Chill athletes playing on the National Team, had 15 points,
including a match-high six blocks, six kills and three aces in a 3-1
loss Sunday night in Gifu, Japan.
Branagh, the USPV Championship Series MVP for the Chill and the
runner-up in the USPV MVP voting, had seven points, including five
kills in a 3-1 loss Saturday in Seki City, Japan.
Mahnken, the 2002 USPV Outstanding Libero for Minnesota, had 45
receptions with just three errors in the match on Sunday.
Porter, an outside hitter for the Chicago Thunder and the 2002 USPV
Offensive Player of the Year, had 19 points, including a match-high 16
kills and three blocks to go with a .400 hitting efficiency in the
National Team’s 3-1 victory over the Japanese National Team in
Okya, Japan Tuesday night.
The victory improved the National Team to 1-2 in this seven-match
Challenge Cup tour against Japan that will be played in seven
different Japanese cities.
The tour continues Wednesday night in Jouetsu-Niigata, Japan.
