It sure is nice to see this group. Now, I will not have to post this
to
rec.running.
Next Sunday I am running a Long Course Triathlon (half ironman). First
time
I run something really long (probably more than 5 hours for the
course),
except perhaps for a marathon, which being so different doesn't count
(and
it is not that long anyways).
One of the things that worries me the most is what strategy to follow
for
energy replacement. What should I eat?, how much? and when?. My plan
is to eat
a couple of power bars and drink lots of gatorade (1+ lt.) during the
bike
portion of the triathlon. I will not eat anything during the run, and
drink
a little.
The times I will do will be around 35'/2h30'/1h45' + time for the
transitions. The distances are 1.2/56/13.1 miles I may go slower or
faster
depending on the course (which I don't know) and other factors (heat,
tiredness, etc.).
Is my plan a sensible one? should I eat more?, less? drink or eat
something
else?. I posted a message (in rec.running) a while ago mentioning that
in
my last tri I had some stomach stitches, most probably due to too
much
water. Anyways, I'd appreciate feedback on this subject.
Cheers, and congratulations to those that worked to get this
newsgroup
going. http://www.topuggshoes.com
